County Fair Pre-Entries Due July 7

4-H’ers bringing exhibits (including animals) to the fair must fill out and return PRE-ENTRY FORMS to the Extension Office by July 7! (This includes horticulture exhibits!)

Pre-entry forms and instructions were mailed to each family. Use the 2017 fair book to complete entry forms. An example is included on the form. Additional sheets are available on the 4-H page at york.unl.edu. If you have questions about filling them out, stop by the office or give us a call.

NOTE: Clover Kids only need to pre-enter for contests and animals exhibits. They do not need to pre-enter static exhibits.

County Fair Survival Tips

2345 North Nebraska Avenue

York, NE

Two Sessions: 11:00 a.m. or 5:30 p.m.

Are you overwhelmed by the jungle of paperwork that ensues with County Fair each year? Are you new to this vast oasis that is 4-H? Are you having trouble navigating your way through the Fair Premium Book? Let us rescue you from the depths of county fair prep! Attend one of the offered sessions to find out how to handle pre-fair entry forms, static exhibit preparation, and receive general tips for making your fair week run smoothly. Register for either of the two sessions by calling the Extension Office at (402) 362-5508.

Club Service Project Opportunities

Is your club looking to complete a service project this summer? There are currently 2 project opportunities available on the fairgrounds:
  • Finish Painting the Horse Arena - A small segment needs to be painted. All supplies are provided, just wear old clothes.
  • Power Washing Ag Hall - The fair board would like to power wash the inside of Ag Hall before county fair. They could use a club to help move displays around and wipe things down

If your club is interested in either of these projects, please call the Extension Office.

County Fair Camper Spots

Families can now reserve camper spots by calling the Extension Office. Your name will go on a list and the list will be given to Ag Society member, Grant Jackson. He will assign camper spots based on past fairs. The cost for one camper spot is $45 for the week.

Payment must be received in order for the spot to be reserved.

Campers will not be allowed on the grounds before Monday of fair week.

Summer Workshops

There are still openings in these workshops: Clover Kid Day and Circuit Monsters

Complete the registration form and return with payment to our office.

4-H Youth Volunteer Opportunities

Between March 1 – June 30, 2017, National 4-H will kick off the “Raise Your Hand” promotion that will focus more upon attracting 4-H alumni back to the program as parents, volunteers, and donors. During this promotion, alumni will be asked to complete the following steps:

  1. Raise Your Hand – Complete the form at http://4-h.org/raise-your-hand to show your pride as a 4‑H alum.
  2. Compete for your state – Raising your hand is a vote towards a $20,000, $10,000 or $5,000 award for the states with the most alumni hands raised.
  3. Pay it Forward – Tweet, post and share your #4HGrown experience or support and tag fellow alumni asking them to raise their hands for their state at http://4‑H.org/RaiseYourHand.

Take your support of “Making the Best Better” and “Learning to Do” wherever you go with the new license plates showcasing Nebraska 4-H and Nebraska FFA! The Nebraska 4-H Foundation and Nebraska FFA Association in cooperation with the Nebraska FFA Alumni, have teamed up to create the first-ever license plate supporting the two largest youth organizations in Nebraska. Similar to other organizational specialty license plates, there must be 250 applications received before the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles will begin issuing this organizational plate. Order yours today by filling out the application form and mailing it along with the $70 fee to the Nebraska 4-H Foundation. Be one of the first 4-H and FFA license plate owners and show the world you are an advocate of these outstanding youth organizations.
