Announcements
I hope you thoroughly enjoyed the 4-day weekend!
Tomorrow (Tuesday, February 21, 2017) is our field trip to see the San Diego Symphony perform the concert "America, America" from their Young Person's Concert series. Please check your email for important reminders about this field trip! Most importantly, please make sure your child brings a sack lunch and disposable water bottle, as well as a snack to eat in the morning before we board the buses.

Your child should be planning his/her Science Fair project. Topics are due tomorrow (February 21) and the final projects are due March 28. Please make sure you sign and return the bottom portion of the green letter that went home last week indicating that you are aware of the project requirements and deadlines. Your child has a packet detailing requirements for the written report and tri-fold display.
Our schedule will be somewhat hectic this week due to the field trip and the 4-day week, but I am hoping we can begin our owl pellets exploration this week. Although we will not actually begin dissecting the pellets this week, I hope to introduce the bones of the skeletal system, as well as discuss the digestive system of owls so students know bones they are finding as we begin to dissect the pellets. Once we begin dissecting, your students will remove bones from the pellet and, because owls swallow their prey whole, will be able to "reconstruct" the skeleton of an animal eaten by the owl. Your student's work will be on display during Open House in March.
