Winter Break
Winter break starts on December 23rd and students return to school on Tuesday, January 7th.
Attending school has a huge impact on student success!
- Don’t let your child stay home unless she is truly sick. Keep in mind complaints of a stomach ache or headache can be a sign of anxiety and not a reason to stay home.
- If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make her feel comfortable and excited about learning.

Teach children it's more than good manners!
When you say "thank you" do you really mean it or are you just being polite? Neuroscientists have found that if you really feel it when you say it, you will be happier and healthier. There are four parts to teaching children gratitude. They must learn how to Notice-Think-Feel-Do.
NOTICE
When they're given a gift help them notice something about it. "Notice how that is exactly what you wanted and it's in your favorite color."
THINK
Ask, "Why do you think you received this gift?" Perhaps for a birthday, holiday or just to be kind.
FEEL
Give children the space to process their emotions by asking them, "How does receiving this gift make you feel?"
DO
Remind children to express thanks by asking, "Is there a way you want to show how you feel?" It could be making a card, giving the gift-giver a hug, or simply saying "Thank You!"
