Recording Outstanding Education

Volume II, No. 17

Nassau County School District continues to have positive events occurring on our campuses. Take a look at some of the things that have happened recently.

Valentines for Veterans

Each February, Yulee High School students are encouraged to write a letter to a veteran who is in the Veterans Hospital in Gainesville. Mrs. Van Delinder reports that this year 103 letters were collected from YHS students.

Mrs. Van Delinder said, "Receiving these letters is really encouraging to these men and women, many of whom have prolonged hospital stays. The students in their letters usually tell a little about themselves and thank the veteran for his or her service." Excellent work, Hornets!

Leaders in Action

Adam Henderson, Director of Technology, recently presented at Microsoft's Headquarters in Tampa, FL about our District's transition into Microsoft Office 365. He discussed the technical processes, challenges, and successes that were involved in updating district-wide devices and programs.

Mr. Poole, Chief of Legal Services, presented a lesson on law and ethics in education to Ms. Vandelinder’s classes at Yulee High School. Some of these students are enrolled in the dual enrollment course, Introduction to Education.
