SLA- MS Advisory Memo
SLA-MS News for the week of September 20th!
What is Advisory Memo?
SLAMS is a Place of Learning...
SLA-MS is a place of learning. For students to be successful, we need your support with:
- Chromebooks - Having a fully charged Chromebook at the beginning of each school day is crucial. It is a student's responsibility to have their Chromebook charged. A fully charged Chromebook should last the entire school day. If your student needs a new charger or any issues with their Chromebook, report it to their Advisor, and the school will go from there with the matter.
- Breakfast starts at 7.45 am, School starts at 8.15 am. Students enter the school from the schoolyard (36th street entrance)
- The school day ends at 3.20 pm students are to exit out of the front door of SLAMS. If your student is picking up a Powel student, they will exit into the schoolyard.
What's for Breakfast & Lunch?
- Here's the School Food Menu. Both SLAMS & Powel have the same menu, https://philasd.nutrislice.com/menu/samuel-powel-school
Does my student get a transpass?
- Students in grades 5 through 8 who live 1.5 miles or farther from school are eligible for free SEPTA Key. If a student loses their pass, please have them report to the office to Mrs.Kathy or Ms.Sheena, and they will help resolve the matter.

SLAMS Families Mini Course Volunteer Form
SLAMS is in need of some parent volunteers on Wednesday during Mini-Course time. The first day of Mini Courses is next Wednesday, September 22nd.
Many of our providers ask for SLAMS adults to be in the classrooms or walk students to their courses. We are hoping some Parents can fill in that spot. Our Teachers are in Professional Development meetings during Mini-Course time, so they can't assist if we can have at least 5 parents to assist us on Wednesdays from 2 pm- 3.20 pm with these courses, that would be great.
If you are interested or know someone who would love to assist, please fill out the form below and arrive at SLAMS next Wednesday.
