Riverside County Families

Week of December 10th - 16th

Hello Riverside County,

We hope you are enjoying the first few weeks of this Holiday Season! Spend the next few weeks enjoying family and friends and homeschooling in a way that enriches this time of year instead of adding stress. Jump in those rain puddles and bake those cookies! The memories you make now while homeschooling your kiddos will last a lifetime.

Inspire's Entrepreneur Fair is this week with 4 separate fairs that cover Riverside County: December 12th in Riverside, Murrieta, and Palm Springs, and December 14th in Hemet.

Come and support fellow Inspire students!

Also, be sure to check out Inspiration Station.

It is filled with so many amazing field trips designed by our HSTs and Liaisons just for you! Scroll through every so often so that you can see all that is being offered throughout Southern California!

We know you're looking for those holiday get-togethers! We've got many happening all over Riverside County this month. Keep reading in this week's newsletter to find more details!

Remember! If you or anyone you know has delayed registration for this year, please note enrollment is closed for some areas already, and others have limited space on a depreciating funds scale. Check for your area here.

In this week's newsletter, we have a 'Curriculum Spotlight' on The Story of the World . Our 'Vendor Spotlight' is on Strumm Guitar Lessons. Make sure to read about both in this edition.

Please reach out anytime and get to know us!

We are so happy to answer all of your questions and guide you through

learning about homeschool philosophy, curriculum, and the homeschool lifestyle!

Don't let yourself drown in worry or fear over homeschooling.

If you find yourself there, reach out!

We are hoping to connect with you soon!

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

The State of California requires all public schools to administer the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) to students enrolled in 5th, 7th, and 9th grades. Inspire’s Physical Fitness Testing window is February 4, 2019, through March 21, 2019. We ask that parents bring their students to a test location and stay at the location during testing. Most students are finished in about an hour (test time may be a little more or less depending on the size of the location). For more information, head over here and for locations click here.

Inspiration Station Booking REMINDERS!

Did you know that you can log into your account on Inspiration Station to view ALL of your field trip bookings?? Checking my account is a regular part of my "Field Trip Booking Routine". I check this by selecting My Account from the drop-down in the upper right-hand corner of the Inspiration Station site. Here you will find all of the field trips you have booked. I advise everyone to always double check the field trip you had just booked by checking the amount and names of the tickets purchased. It's a great time to also input the trip date, time, and host contact information into your planner.

Happy Planning!

Utilizing Enrichment Certificates for Service Orders

Please make sure to submit your service orders 2-4 weeks prior to the start of services to allow for sufficient time for your orders to be processed. Once you have your enrichment certificate and give it to your service vendor, that is when you can begin your services.

This Week's Vendor Spotlight: Strumm Guitar Lessons

This week we are spotlighting Strumm Guitar Lessons! This is what owner, Michael Sciarra has to say:

"My name is Michael Sciarra and I have been playing guitar for 12+ years and providing lessons for the past 7+ years. I have taught students of all ages from 5 years to 50 and genuinely enjoy helping students grow to love music. I structure my teaching around what kinds of songs and styles of music students are interested in, which I have found helps greatly with the learning process and motivation.

For Inspire students I charge $35/half hour lesson. Please reach out, I'm looking forward to hearing from you!"

This Week's Curriculum Spotlight: The Story of the World

Have you ever struggled to find a history curriculum or resource that worked well for your family or homeschool lifestyle? Have you struggled to fit history in at all? Since adding The Story of the World to our line up many years ago, I feel so much more confident in my children's exposure to all of history. It has brought me peace to know that we have a resource that will easily lead us through all of recorded history from the beginning of time to the present day. In addition to the fact that this is an excellent curriculum and book set to read to your children or have them read themselves, it is also an audiobook! Spend time listening to history as you drive to sports practice or your next field trip! The curriculum comes in four volumes that you can use in any way you like. We love The Story of the World and we think you will too! Check out more about this awesome history curriculum with information straight from their website below...

"Told in the straightforward, engaging style that has become Susan Wise Bauer’s trademark, The Story of the World covers the sweep of human history from ancient times until the present. Africa, China, Europe, the Americas–find out what happened around the world in the centuries before our own. This read-aloud series is designed for parents to share with elementary-school children, or for older readers to enjoy alone. Introduce your child to the marvelous story of the world’s civilizations!

Educational Website and Teaching Tip of the Week: WRITING GAMES!

What do we do when we get in a rut? Specifically with writing. Especially during this time of year? I know you can't see me but my hand is raised high in the air. I am always in need of exploring ways to grab hold of my children's attention and keep it! All while having them absorb something meaningful. I don't need any fancy workbooks or activity books, all we need was a few blank pieces of paper, pencils, and a fun attitude! Over at navigatingbyjoy.com, she put together a fun list of writing games that we all enjoy together! I love it when the kiddos laugh and enjoy each other's company while learning (it's the small things in life guys). I call this a win.

Audrey Everson

Hi everyone! I am a mom of 3 awesome kids ranging in age from 10 to 6 years old. My husband and I are high school sweethearts and have been married for 16 years. Having homeschooled our children over the last 6 years in 3 different states, I've found homeschooling here in California, especially with Inspire Charter, has been a great fit for our homeschool journey. I am grateful for our ability to homeschool so freely and I aspire to assist other families with their own homeschool adventures!

We want to hear from you!
