Holiday Assistance
Different organizations reach out to Powell Elementary to assist our students and families with items for the holidays. Please let us know if you would welcome assistance and would be willing for Mrs. Nixon, our counselor, to call or email you if an organization volunteers to donate this year. In the past we have had organizations offer to donate food, clothing, and toys to our families in need. If you are interested in receiving assistance, please email Mrs. Nixon at snixon@conroeisd.net or call her at 936-709-1700.

GIRLS ON TE RUN (GOTR)
This fall we had over thirty 3rd and 4th grade girls participate in the GOTR program. GOTR is a program that inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind! It is a 10-week program where the girl have developed essential skills to help them establish lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. Registration for our spring 2019 group will start on December 10th and the season will begin the week of February 4th. For more information please click the link: https://www.gotrgreaterhouston.org/. You can also email Pam Owens at powens@conroeisd.net if you have any questions.
Nominations for Gifted & Talented Testing
Nominations are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until February, nominations are accepted at this time. Nominations can be made by the parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in nominating your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Nominations will be accepted through December 18. You may request a nomination form from Erin Anderson at eanderson@conroeisd.net. You can also find the nomination form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.
