Miss Bush read our children this wonderful book.
"Just make a mark and see where it takes you."
And look at all the different ways we make ART with DOTS!
Greetings from the Art room, Blue Ash families!
This is Ms. Bush, the k-4 visual arts teacher. I am a maker and love to share my passion. My job is to encourage my students to be curious and to look closer. There is never a dull moment in the art room, thanks to the power of the imagination. We play, experiment, create, make mistakes, learn from those around us, and we try, again and again. Through the creative process students naturally develop problem solving skills without fear of failure; we learn that there can be multiple solutions to one problem. Art welcomes all types of intelligence; art excludes no one. While creativity is not a measurable skill, it is necessary in every walk of life.
All students, K-4, learn the same studio habits of mind: Observe, Express, Stretch and Explore, Envision, Develop Craft, Engage and Persist, as well as Reflect and Understand Art Worlds. This curriculum aligns with the National Core Art Standards. Students spend 4-5 classes on each studio habit, starting with “Artists Observe”. For more information on Studio Habits of Mind (SHOM), visit https://www.studiothinking.org/the-framework.html
Lastly, I have begun creating an outdoor space for art classes as nature provides much inspiration. If you have any small tree stumps, or access to them, I’m in need. Currently our “seats”are rocks, which are much too low to the ground. If you have any donatable materials for an OUTDOOR space, please email me at bushg@sycamoreschools.org
Important Information/Reminders:

Ask your child about their day! What was their favorite part? What was the most challenging part? How did they show kindness to someone? What is something that they learned about it math....reading...etc. They do amazing things throughout the day, and we want them to share it with you!
