Semester Classes: Materials Collection and Distribution
We are extremely concerned about the volume of books we need returned in order to redistribute them for the next batch of students in those classes. Your help is needed to get these books returned on time. If you are unable to drop them off by the 21st please contact the office.
We hope to be ready to distribute materials for our new semester classes the week of February 1. Again, this only applies to semester long classes.

Reminder: Synchronous Class Time and Module Day Changes: Begins Monday, January 25 (Term 3 Start)
ISD 709 Secondary Schools (grades 6-12) will remain in Distance Learning for the start of Quarter 3. Teachers will continue to develop weekly modules aligned to state standards, provide feedback, assess, verify weekly attendance reports, and now there will be time to incorporate synchronous teaching and learning.
MODULE DAY ADJUSTMENT FOR SEMESTER 2:
Beginning Monday, January 25, with the first module of the semester, we will now be publishing the weekly modules every Monday. We have had overwhelming feedback from our students and teachers requesting this change. Modules will now be Monday at 9 A.M. through Friday at midnight. We continue to have a one-week grace period to submit work without penalty to the grade should students need the weekend to complete work.
SYNCHRONOUS TEACHING AND LEARNING:
Synchronous teaching and learning will be scheduled in 30-minute blocks with 3 class periods meeting per day- M, Tu, Th, F. Please see the schedule below for those times. All students will be encouraged to follow their class schedule and attend the Google Meet assigned for each class period. Study halls will not meet. Classes may offer additional Google Meet time for support and communication. Students will continue to mark their daily attendance in Infinite Campus.
Teachers will set up the links for their synchronous time and post them on the front page of each Canvas Classroom. They may also appear on the class calendar.
Teachers will be providing activities that are valuable to student learning during synchronous time. All materials needed and all assignments will still be found in the Canvas module. These 30-minute sessions may be new for some students and some teachers. Teachers always begin new semesters by reviewing class norms and routines. This semester that will include norms and routines for the new synchronous Google Meets. In addition to providing critical academic support, this opportunity to build relationships with teachers and classmates cannot be duplicated in a completely asynchronous model.
Reminder: NHS Tutoring is Available!
this could be a good way to get caught up or improve your grade. You could also work with a tutor to set up help sessions for second semester.

Sources of Strength: Mental Health
Our mental health is a very important part of living a healthy life, and oftentimes, getting together with a trusted person, a counselor, or a doctor can help empower us to overcome internal struggles we might be facing. Getting support is a gift to yourself. Mental Health is all about getting the support we need and deserve to help us when we are struggling. We would always seek treatment for physical pain, and mental health needs to be the same way.

Activities for you to do at home:

Close your eyes, visualize one thing you are grateful for.
Put your headphones on, sing out loud and DANCE!

Blood Drive
The ABO Hounds are hosting our February 3rd blood drive in honor of AJ Amatuzio. In addition to the one-day drive at East, MBC will take donations at the Burning Tree Center in his name for the entire month of February. We want to show AJ our love and support as he fights Leukemia.
Blood donors are needed every day to sustain a safe and adequate supply and blood is an essential part of emergency preparedness. We have implemented additional precautionary measures to ensure a safe donation environment, and we are looking for donors!

Giving blood is safe and simple
It’s more important than ever for donors and the public to know that donating blood is still a safe, easy process that is an essential part of community preparedness, even as we are encouraged to stay home as much as possible. We have implemented additional precautionary measures to ensure a safe donation environment including:
We are restricting blood drive access to only donors and essential staff.
Our staff have been provided face masks and are practicing social distancing.
We are asking donors to wear a mask; we do have a limited supply if you don’t have one.
We are checking temperatures of staff and donors upon arrival.
We are using hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes to ensure a staff & donor safety.
We are asking donors to self-screen before coming in to donate.
We are spacing out appointments to allow for social distancing.
We are only accepting blood donations by appointment.

ALL ATHLETES WHO TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID:
You will be required to follow the Return to Play Protocol. Your coach, the Activities Director, and our Athletic Trainers Jennie Koelling and Terry Hanson are here to support you through that process. You can find more information by reading the MSHSL's guidance.
There can be hidden impacts on your body that may put you at risk as you return to play. Evaluating each student athlete prior to play is critical for health and safety. It starts with an appointment with your physician before spending 7 days being evaluated by the trainers. Student safety is our priority!
Stay safe, Greyhounds!
