Magnet Mondays
Wk 2 - Inside Our School
Welcome to 'Magnet Mondays'!
This week's edition of Magnet Mondays focuses on our school.
Ask yourself: How is our school different from other schools? What makes our school special? What can I do to help our school stand out from the crowd?
School Tours
Prospective parents will begin touring our school on Wednesday, September 28th from 9:30 - 10:30 AM and again on October 12th at 12:00 - 1:00 PM. Additional tours will take place on: 10/26, 11/09, 11/16, 11/30, 12/07, 12/14, 01/11, and 01/25.
- Did you know that our base school parents can also sign up to take part in a tour?
- Help us promote our tours by including this link as well as tour information in your parent newsletters and Friday Folder information.
Displays & Bulletin Boards
Our students are creating some awesome 'post-worthy' work. Show it off! This is a great way to share a sneak peek of your classroom.
Please include a title, standard/objective, and a short explanation about the task. Bonus: Try to include a variety of student work instead of multiple copies of the same assignment.
Magnet Moments
Live Locally, Learn Globally
Skype in the Classroom
"Skype in the Classroom is completely free to educators and experts around the world to connect and share learning experiences using the standard free version of Skype. To participate all you need to do is download Skype and set up a Skype ID. You can use that same ID to register on this site. Browse content to find the perfect learning activity for your students, then request a session. We request that members of the community respond within 3 working days. We have hundreds of approved Guest Speakers who can bring to life the curriculum so students can interact live with experts rather than just reading about them in a text book."
Guest Speakers
One of my favorite activities was to invite a virtual guest speaker into the classroom. My students loved interacting with an expert.
Let me know if you have any questions. I will be happy to help you set up a session with your students.
