Hello John Marshall Families!

As we kick off fall break, we have just a few reminders and announcements to share your way. There is a message below from the Wausau School District about our plan for concerts for the winter as well as some additional events and reminders.

I do ask for your help to ensure safe drop off and pick up procedures here at John Marshall as well. A couple of reminders:

  • Please, no drive through drop off or pick up in our parking lot. You are welcome to park there and walk to meet your child, but your child cannot walk through the parking lot without an adult.

  • We ask that all students only cross the street at the corners and not ever in the middle of the block. Drivers are not expecting students to run across the road in the middle of the block and we have great Safety Patrol members to help your child cross the street safely at the corners.

  • Please leave the bus lane open so our buses can safely get in and out.

  • Take a moment to view the map in this newsletter for the safest locations to drop off and pick up. If you have questions, please contact our office and we can help you figure out what will work best for you and your family.

Wishing you a safe and healthy weekend!

Ms. Patterson

Music Concert Update

The Wausau School District remains committed to advancing student learning, achievement, and success. As part of that, we highly value the educational benefits that Music Education Programming and encore classes provide our students, not to mention the related performance opportunities that our students have in our K-12 schools. That said, since there’s still so much uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, the Wausau School District is going to err on the side of caution and postpone all elementary music concerts until at least Spring. The decision was made for a couple of reasons. The main one is the safety of our students, their families, and our staff. As you know, right now elementary-aged students are not able to get vaccinated against COVID-19 like many of our middle and high school students can. In addition to the fact that not everyone can get vaccinated, concerts often bring together a lot of people in one space and we want to make sure everyone is not only safe but feels comfortable participating and watching. Please know, the District will reevaluate the situation in the spring and keep you up-to-date after the new year as to the status of concert performances at that time.

Save the Date

December Family Night on Thursday, December 9th in lieu of the winter concert. More information to come.

Winter Gear

Parents....PLEASE make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the playground, coats along with a hat and mittens as it gets windy outside. With the cold Wisconsin weather on it's way, be thinking about all the other winter gear your child needs to stay warm this winter on the playground.
