Tiger Talk

11/19/19

We are thankful for our Tigers and our Tiger families

West Cypress Hills Elementary is fortunate to have a great team whose focus is on providing our Tigers with the support and learning opportunities that they richly deserve.

And, we know that our "tools" in our toolboxes have been, and continue to be, greatly enhanced by the support of our Tiger families. We are thankful for you, and our many supporters. We are grateful for our fabulous PTO, our WatchDOGS, our many volunteers, our mentors, our LTHS PALS, the LTHS Cavalier football team, our Literacy Partners, and our other community partners.

We hope to have an opportunity to thank you in person at our Thanksgiving Feast this Thursday. More information about our Thanksgiving Feast can be found farther down inside this newsletter as well as on our school website. West Cypress Hills Elementary will be closed for the holiday November 25 through November 29, and we shall look forward to seeing our Tigers in school again at 7:40 am on Monday, December 2.

On behalf of all of the West Cypress staff, I wish you and your family a happy Thanksgiving holiday.

With warmest regards,

Melanie Beninga, Principal

The Student Council Presents our Annual Naked Turkey Contest to Benefit Helping Hands of Spicewood

This year our Tiger Student Council is collecting canned goods as their Thanksgiving project. They are asking all Tigers to bring canned goods to place in their classroom turkey grocery bag. Each teacher will have a turkey grocery bag and a Thanksgiving dinner plate on display in the classroom. For every 10 cans collected, the teacher's plate receives 1 Thanksgiving dinner item. The challenge among the classes is to see how many full plates of food they can provide for their teacher.

Each grade level, also, has a naked turkey on display just outside of the Tiger's Den. The more canned goods a grade level collects, the more feathers their turkey will receive. Hopefully, there are NO naked turkeys left on the board by November 22!

Canned goods are being collected November 14 - 22. The teachers of the grade level with the largest collection of canned goods will dress like turkeys on November 22, and their grade level turkey will be proudly displaying the most feathers.

The collected canned goods will be delivered by our Student Council to the Helping Hands of Spicewood on December 9.

WCHE Thanksgiving Feast Lunch Schedule

Students' meals will be charged to their school meal accounts. Guest meals can be purchased in advance through Friday, November 15. Guest tickets are $5.50 per guest.

Guests coming for the first time to West Cypress Hills will need to present a photo ID at the front desk in order to obtain a visitor's badge. To avoid a long wait in security check-in lines, all other guests should RSVP so that their visitor's badge can be printed in advance.

These young men will be presenting the funds they raised to Coaches Mirizzi and Cadorette at our next student assembly this Friday so that our PE Coaches can use the funds to purchase new PE equipment.
