Dear Staff,


We know that this is a time of change and uncertainty, but also a time for opportunity. Below are some useful resources that can help guide you to feeling and living well while providing services to our students and families. The purpose of this newsletter is to share facts, information and resources.

Mindful Monday

Mindfulness is about being totally present in the moment, focusing on the here and now.


Practice for today:

Watch the sunrise/sunset. Notice the colors, the wind, the temperature, close your eyes and take a deep breath in and then slowly release the breath. What feeling did you experience? Did you notice anything different?

Talk About It Tuesday

Find a way to exhale. Connect with a family member or friend through FaceTime, and ask them how they are doing, voice your concerns, but end with a positive word even in these times.


Practice for today:


Call that friend or family member that you meant to call a while ago, but have not taken the time to do so, tell them how much you miss them and appreciate them.

Practice for today:


Take a walk without your phone. Focus on your breathing, take slow, deep breaths. Smile at a neighbor. Keep walking. Notice the breeze, the sounds around you. Other people out for a run or a walk. What did you notice in your neighbor that you haven’t noticed before? Find a place to sit down and write about this walk.(Curran, L., 2013. 101 Trauma Informed Interventions.)

Working from home can be overwhelming. How do you juggle it all? How do you manage personal responsibilities with work responsibilities? How do you cope with shifting job expectations?

Family or Friends Fun Friday

We are all learning different ways to connect with our family and friends while social distancing. At first, it was wobbly but we are getting better and better every day! We will be sharing ideas to help you connect during this time.


Practice for today:


Create a playlist with 5 songs that remind you of your best friend or a family event. Commit to hanging out with your family or friend (if you are quarantined with them in person - if not, online!) to listen to each track and reminisce on good times.
