Congratulations to our Graduates!

This year, Hendrick Scholarship Foundation celebrated seven scholar graduates. Three students earned their bachelor's degrees from universities and four students received their associates degrees from Collin College and are moving on to universities in the fall. We are very proud of their accomplishments.

"Opportunity Knocking: Exploring Careers That Make Going to Work Exciting and Fun"

An HSF Symposium and Project of Leadership Plano Class 35 was held on Saturday May 19th at UT Dallas in Richardson. More than 60 students and their parents attended the event that focused on college and career information and motivation. The symposium included guest speakers, a panel discussion and break out sessions.

The general sessions were lead by by Angela Pelham, Sr. VP of Human Resources for Dave & Buster's and Brent O'Bannon of Brent O'Bannon Strengthsfinder Coaching. Brent gave an overview of his Strengthsfinder program and then brought a student panel on stage to discuss their individual results of the assessment. The takeaway being, highlight your strengths and downplay your weaknesses.

Breakout Sessions

The breakout sessions showcased experts in their respective fields and included:

-Law/civil service

-Cultural arts and education

-Information technology

-Entrepreneurship/business

-Health Care

The event was an all day affair that made a long lasting impression. Thank you to the sponsors that supported the event: Baylor, Scott & White, Collin College, Plano Chamber of Commerce and UT Dallas. Also, a HUGE thank you to LEADERSHIP PLANO CLASS 35 for all of their hard work, energy and enthusiasm put forth into this project and for helping our students feel confident and prepared to succeed in school, their future careers and in life.

INAUGURAL TIM PLATT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Emily Ayoubi accepted the Tim Platt Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was founded by Toyota employees wanting to honor the memory of their friend and leader, Tim Platt. A ceremony was held at Toyota North America Headquarters in Plano to present Emily with the award. The Platt family had the opportunity to meet and talk with Emily as well as Hendrick Board President Nancy Humphrey, Hendrick Board member and Student Success Committee Chair Tom Donaldson and Hendrick Executive Director, Gregg Pappas.

INTRODUCING THE NEW 2018 STUDENT COHORT

Congratulations to our new Hendrick Scholars, chosen from an applicant pool of 50, these 17 Plano high school seniors will represent Hendrick as they make their plans to attend Collin College or university in the fall. Certificates were presented at the scholarship awards nights on May 22nd at Plano West Senior High School and on May 23rd at Plano East Senior High School.

TASTE 2018 RECAP

Over 300 guests attend and over $100,000 raised for our scholars!

TASTE is a party with a purpose - Serving Student Success for Life! Guests enjoyed an exciting evening of music, cocktails, and auction at Plano's Classic BMW and were surrounded by the tastes of Plano's premier restaurants and chefs, including our Celebrity Honorary Chef John Tesar. With the generosity of our sponsors, this event helped to expand the opportunities for Plano ISD graduates who have overcome adversity to obtain a college education. Thank you to all who contributed their time, effort and resources to make the event a success especially our TASTE 2018 Chair, Jean Callison, and committee, our Host Committee, chaired by Lesley and Barry Guinn and our Honorary Chair Kellie Rasberry from the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show on 106.1 KISS FM.

Student Workshop: Thinking with the End in Mind

On Saturday, March 24, the Student Leadership Team ran a workshop for their peers. During the morning, those leaders shared their secrets to success and inspired the other scholars to reach for the stars.
