PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Alta Vista Families and Friends,
I want to thank you all for an extraordinary school year. In August, when I joined Alta Vista, you welcomed me into your community and truly made me feel right at home. I can't thank everyone enough for the endless hours that have been spent sharing Project Cornerstone lessons, leading Art Vista activities, cleaning up after clay projects, organizing the Walk-a-thon/Movie Night/Book Fair/Olympic Day/Fantasy Faire/Multicultural Night/Variety Show, and many other acts of kindness that often happen behind the scenes. Thank you for going above and beyond to enrich our students' learning and help create a true sense of community at Alta Vista.
I also want to thank our outstanding Alta Vista staff for their commitment to providing a exemplary learning experience for our students. They are an incredible group of professionals and I feel blessed to work with them.
Lastly, I want to say thank you to our Alta Vista Cougars for their hard work throughout the school year. I am proud of their many accomplishments and am honored to be their principal.
Have a wonderful summer break. Until August, I wish everyone days filled with love, laughter, and learning.
Remember - Every day is great day to be an Alta Vista Cougar.
Fondly,
Cathy Bailey
Proud Principal of Alta Vista Elementary School
FIFTH GRADE PROMOTION
This year's fifth grade promotion celebration will begin at 11:00 on Friday morning. Here are a few suggestions to help you make the most of the day:
- The event will be held on the intermediate playground. There is very little shade, so you will want to put on some sunscreen and sport your hats and sunglasses.
- The "doors" will open at 10:45. Seats cannot be saved in advance. The line will begin outside of the rolling gate facing the parking lot, extending past the cafeteria, and continue down Blossom Valley Drive, along the drop-off area.
- Alta Vista siblings cannot be released to attend the event, but be sure to celebrate at home.
Please think about being present in the moment, rather than watching the event through your phone or other device. If you feel the need to take pictures or record, please be respectful of those around you who also want to watch their children. Please do not block the view of families by standing or holding your device in front of them. Thank you for your cooperation in making this a memorable day for everyone.
We look forward to seeing you at Friday's celebration.
OLYMPIC DAY - TOMORROW
Alta Vista's Annual Olympic Day is tomorrow. The fun begins at 10:00 and lasts for approximately two hours. To fully enjoy the day, please help your child with the following:
- Put sunscreen on in the morning - faces, necks, arms, legs - everywhere.
- Send a water bottle that is reusable and labeled with your child's name.
- Students should wear comfortable clothing that can get dirty and wet. Don't forget tennis shoes.
We still are in need of volunteers to make the event run smoothly and be enjoyable for everyone. Please sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E084CAFAE29A64-alta5
to help at a station or escort classes between activities. Thank you, in advance.
