2. Fun Friday - As an extra treat, your child may bring a special drink to school this Friday (coke, Gatorade, Chocolate milk, etc.)
3. Class Picnic & Kickball game- One day next week (weather permitting) we will have a class picnic and compete against Mrs. Seeley's class in a kickball game. I will send the date once we've seen the weather forecast for next week. You may send a beach towel, hat, and sunglasses, and be sure your child wears tennis shoes and comfortable clothes.
4. Homework folders - This is the last week I will send homework folders and reading logs. Phonics test and end of year math tests will begin this week
Writing: (W1.1, 1.7, 1.8) Students will focus on including a topic sentence, 3 supporting sentences, and a closing sentence when writing an opinion piece in class.
Reading: (RL1.4, .5, .6) We will continue using context clues to make meaning during reading workshop. We will practice looking for evidence to help in understanding what's been read.
Math: (1.OA.1, .2, B3, B4, C6, D8, ) Wow! Your kiddos are doing some impressive work with adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers. We will spend the last weeks of school reviewing all of the first grade math standards- addition, subtraction, word problems, place value,measurement, and number sense.

FYI - Don't forget to send in the ingredients needed for your child's recipe.
Thanks to those of you who have volunteered to come and help with our cooking activity.
If you can be in the classroom by 9:15, I can explain each station and give you time to read your recipe and prepare your area.
