Dear Middle School Families,
In an effort to better reach and serve our students during this distance learning period our amazing teachers and coaches have offered to open some of our Middle School After School Activities to students across our district. - Middle School Photography Club - Hosted by Friedell
- Young Writers Club - Hosted by Kellogg

Hello!
Two weeks ago, Mr. Van Winkle wrote about the tough combination of COVID-19, Distance Learning and the winter season.
He told you we’ve seen an increase in students with low moods, mental health concerns, suicidal ideation and more.
His message was straightforward and continues to be true.
Simply put, we are worried about our students, your children… and we know you are, too.
Long ago, I heard about the Masai tribe of Africa. Their traditional greeting was, and still is, “Kasserian Ingera," which means, “And how are the children?” It is said that the traditional answer of the Masai is, “All the children are well.” I just love the thought of mighty warriors prioritizing the young and the most in need. I imagine that, even in difficult times, when all the children are not well, this exchange keeps the Masai working toward that goal.
And so… I ask myself, and you…, “How are the children?”
If you have even the slightest worry about your child, please contact us.
In this unusual time, it can be tough to figure out what is typical for adolescents.
We all wonder if changes (academic/social/emotional/behavioral) in our children are…
- just the usual, middle school “stuff?”
- temporary consequences of the pandemic, online school or time of year?
- red flag warnings that need to be addressed immediately?
Guess what?
We are here for all the reasons above.
Our counseling/social work team helps with typical adolescence, with COVID-19/DL struggles and with mental health concerns.
Please reach out so we can keep working towards the goal… “All the children are well.”
