The Last Page Of 2015-2016

Hello Pillow Panther Staff!

I hope y'all had a restful weekend! I'm sure many of you, if you are like me when I was a teacher, were up at the school working on your rooms. But, hopefully you relaxed some this weekend. Caitlin and I celebrated our 9 year anniversary in San Antonio. It was a lot of fun, but we found ourselves constantly talking about Everett and how much we missed him. I guess that's part of being a parent.

Well, it's the last week of school! Can you believe it?! I can't. This year has flown by and it has been such a blast for me. I know Ms. Cardenas feels the same way. We've accomplished a lot this week, and now it's time to finish out the year strong and celebrate all that we, as a Pillow Family, have done during the 2015-2016 school year.

Remember to please follow the awards ceremony schedule and remember that I will be at all of the ceremonies. If you'd like me to give out the Principal medals or place them on the kiddo's necks as you read the winners, I can do that. If you'd rather do it as a grade level, that's fine too. I'll just attend the events and watch with joy as our Panthers celebrate their accomplishments. Just let me know. Also, remember that we are going to try and block off the entrance to the school parking lot around 1:00 so that parents at the 1:30 award ceremonies don't get stuck in the lot behind the busses when they arrive. If you want to send a message to your parents or remind them when you see them that they need to park on the street, that'd be helpful.

Also, on Thursday at 2:30, we are going to set up in the hallway to celebrate and cheer on our 5th graders as they take their final walk down the Pillow hallway. It sounds like a cool event and I look forward to every class being present so that we can send them off with Pillow Pride. Also, please make sure that your rooms are cleaned up and trash is thrown away if you are planning on having classroom parties the last day. Let's not leave a mess for the custodians. They already have a lot of things on their plate these last days. I also want to encourage you to have lunch bunch with your kiddos this week, if you'd like. The kiddos get a little crazy the last few days, so the more lunch bunches the merrier. Also, it will be the last time you get to have lunch bunch with your class. Not a requirement, though.

Lastly, don't forget to get all of your required signatures/initials on your checkout list before checking out with me on Friday. Use your students this week to help you get the room cleaned and cleared. On Friday, we will meet at 7:30am in the cafeteria for breakfast and a final staff meeting. Please be there at 7:30, whether you are eating breakfast or not. We are only meeting until 8:30 because I need to attend Anderson's graduation, and I need to go over some final things before I leave, so please be there ready to start at 7:30. While I'm at the graduation, Ms. Cardenas will be at the campus to sign out anyone that is ready to sign out. Again, that means that you've acquired all of the necessary signatures/initials on your checklist, keys are turned in to Ms. Chaplin, and your room is ready to be checked. As soon as Ms. Cardenas gives you the final signature and collects your checklist, you are free to go. I will be back in the afternoon to sign people out.

For those of you that want to work late on Friday and don't want to come in over the weekend, I've heard your request. I have made plans to be at the school until 10:00pm on Friday to sign out anyone that needs me to. Remember that the building will be open on Saturday and Sunday to work on your rooms, but if you plan on coming in over the weekend, then you must sign out with me on Monday the 6th between 7:00am and 7:40am before I leave for training. I would suggest not waiting until the last minute. Also, that's only a 40 minute window to check rooms and collect keys from anyone needing to work over the weekend, so if there are a ton of people needing to sign out that morning, we will run into a problem. I highly suggest that you try and get signed out on Friday. If you do, you'll have the rest of the day to yourself and you won't have to come in over the weekend. It's possible to get your rooms ready by then, if you want. Let me know if you have any questions about checkout.

Thank you for your flexibility with checkout this year, as it is our first one together. I promise you that as soon as I can allow you back in the building over the summer, I will. Thank you again for a great year here at Pillow. You all make me proud to call myself the principal of Pillow and I hope you have enjoyed the 2015-2016 school year. Let's have a great final week!
