Briscoe Counseling Connection
March 2020
Dear Briscoe Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you safe and well. During these uncertain times, we hope to bring you not only information, but some positive thoughts and ideas to pass along and share with your children.
Along with this newsletter, we’ve also been working in conjunction with our fellow NISD counselors, and in the days to come we will have engaging counseling lessons and activities shared throughout the district for you and your children to utilize as needed.
Please continue to check our district and campus website, follow us @DBMSCounseling, and know we are in this together to ensure the safety of our community along with the continued social emotional learning support that we strive to instill in our Bengals each and every day.
We hope to see you all soon,
Briscoe Counseling Department

NISD Distance Learning
Parents may access resources by utilizing their child's login information. The Distance Learning Plan is provided for NISD students and families to access instructional materials from home with their NISD Student Portal Account to access resources.
If you need access to your student's password, log in to Home Access Center (HAC) with your registered email and password. Once you are logged in and at the home screen, click Registration to locate your child’s username and password. If you are the parent of an NISD student and do not have a registered HAC account, please call the Northside Help Desk for assistance at (210) 397-7700.
Managing Anxiety & Stress
HOW TO KEEP OURSELVES HEALTHY
- Wash your own hands frequently with soap and water and make sure your children wash hands whenever they come in from outside the home (see the link below for proper hand washing technique)
- Help your children practice not touching their faces (people touch their faces approximately 23 times an hour; keeping our hands away from our faces is crucial for staying healthy)
- Teach your children to cough and sneeze into their elbows.
- Parents: avoid eating from your children's plates and avoid sharing water bottles
- Avoid being near sick people
- Disinfect surfaces and devices in your home; dispose of all tissues.
When school resumes, follow the school guidelines on when to keep your children home. This keeps us all safer.
