From Mr. Hall's Desk...
Greenlee is excited to announce that Run for Holland donated $14,000 for all new inclusive/sensory playground equipment. The playground equipment will be purchased in three phases. With the Run for Holland grant, the first phase will be complete!
Community Field Trip
Kinders and first graders were able to get hands-on learning experiences from exploring the community. Students visited the State Employees Credit Union where they learned about bank careers and even enjoyed a visit from Fat Cat. Next, students visited the Spruce Pine Post Office to experience the process of sorting mail. Lastly, kinders visited Ingles Market where they browsed each department's food and career options. They also learned mapping skills to navigate the store. Visiting these three locations presented an opportunity for students to learn and have some fun!
Caterpillars & Butterflies
Classes learned about the lifecycle and metamorphosis of caterpillars to butterflies. Students were able to observe the chrysalides turning into beautiful Monarch butterflies. Lessons also included details about butterfly migration and conservation.
Fender's Farm
Fender's Farm offered many learning opportunities for second graders. They were able to view and explore different types of vegetables, plants, and animals. In class, students learned about the life cycle of pumpkins. At Fender's Farm, students were able to use knowledge from their lesson in choosing the right pumpkin to pick and keep.
