PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE:
Spring is here and it is welcome for sure. March 13th is the beginning of the final trimester. Hanby students have made great progress between the first and second trimester. This year, we will be holding two days of Spring Conferences:
Wednesday, March 21st, 10 AM – 8 PM
Thursday, March 22nd, 10 AM – 8 PM
Conference sign-ups are available now (see link at the bottom of newsletter). Please complete and return as soon as possible. All of our programs including CLASS and CAMP will be conferencing as well. They will be making separate contacts to set up their conferences.
Spring is a busy time for all of us, but do not forget the importance of continuing communication with your student’s classroom teachers. We want all students to finish the school year strong and teachers will have insights to helping your child accomplish that.
This month our 8th grade parents need to be thinking about transitions to the high school; class scheduling and campus visits will take place during April and May. This last trimester is a great time to work on the good study and organization habits students need to succeed in high school. Looking at Synergy is a great way to track students work.
Track also begins this month. I would encourage any and all students to participate. Track is a great introduction to athletics for many students, and a way to get involved in extra-curricular activities. All students 6th – 8th grades can participate.
I want to also announce that Hanby was the winner of a $10,000 grant to create a RED (Robotics, Engineering, and Discovery) room next year. This area will include space for robotics, building sets, computer programs, Legos, and circuits. The area will be used for student time before school and at lunch, and be used by several classes this year. I am sure it will be very popular.
Have a wonderful Spring Break!
HANBY TRACK SEASON IS BEGINNING!
Track practices begin on Tuesday, March 6th, and take place at the Hanby track field, located at Patrick Elementary School in Gold Hill.
Practice times: 2:45 - 4:30 on M, T, Th, F and 1:45 - 3:30 on Wednesdays.
A meeting for parents of track athletes will be held on Wednesday, March 7th at 5:00 PM in Jenny Mitchell's classroom (P-13). We encourage all track parents to attend.
