****Please bring an idea for practicing math facts, addition or multiplication, to the staff meeting. You will not need to share, but we will collect the ideas to use with parent volunteers and staff who have a minute. I am putting an index card in every staff member's mailbox. (If you are not attending the meeting put the card in my mailbox by Thursday afternoon.) Write down a website, technique, game, new idea, or crazy idea that you think will help the children of Klager Elementary become proficient in math facts.
****You will also find an index card for you to share your favorite quote, hopefully pertaining to education and students. This will give me an idea of the philosophy of the staff and we can use the quotes in our messages to families. It is very important that everyone is involved with this project. I will not tie your name to the quote unless you so wish when this is used within our school. This can be tied to 7 Habits or your own personal philosophy. Your quotes could also have a spin toward understanding, like "Students aren't obsessed with electronics, they are drawn to the relationships they bring." or "What is right is right, even if no one is doing it, and what is wrong is wrong, even if everyone is doing it." Have fun, and remember there a million websites with quotes.
I have put your name on the quotes and math fact index cards for me to check off who has returned the cards, please write you quote or math fact on the other side to protect your identity.

Article about Food Panty clients
More than 1.7 million Michigan residents struggle with hunger every day. And on average, food pantry clients in Michigan receive the equivalent of less than 1 gallon of nutritious milk per person per year? That's because while Americans are generous with canned and dry goods, many don't think to donate milk because it's perishable.
To help get much needed milk to Michigan food banks, United Dairy Industry of Michigan developed a Text to Donate program to help food banks provide millions of Americans with milk. In addition, we created this "The Dairy Farmer's Gift" video -- a version of "The Night Before Christmas"-- which tells the story of a dairy farmer who gives a calf to St. Nick to provide milk for children around the world. The video ends with a message encouraging viewers to text to donate milk to a food pantry in their area.
Please take a moment and watch and share this video and this important area of need with your community. Together we can make a big difference in the lives of Michigan families.
You can TEXT: MILK to 50555 to donate $5.00, the United Dairy Industry of Michigan will/did match all donations from TEXT to Donate thru the end of 2015.
