AEHS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
January 16, 2023
Happy MLK Day! While today is a day we take off from school and work, it should be noted that on this day as we celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., it is actually a day "on." Its intended purpose is to take a day when we give of ourselves in service to others. I hope you all had an opportunity to give to others today, or at the very least, engaged in an act of kindness to honor my fraternity brother, Dr. King.
In the spirit of service, I want to draw your attention to the Career Day event we are planning for Friday, March 3. Information is included below, but I want to emphasize that we cannot put this event on without your help. Please read through it, sign up to support, and at the very least, share the information with a friend or colleague.
I want to also remind you that the end of the semester is fast approaching. If your student does not earned a D or an E in marking period one, and does not earn a minimum grade of 60% (D) in marking period two, they will fail semester one and will need to repeat the first semester of the course. If the E is in Math or English, they will repeat their current grade, regardless of how many credits they earn in the quarter. Please be sure to check ParentVue and/or reach out to your students' teachers directly if you have a concern about your students' grades. And, while we try to communicate with each caretaker to keep them apprised of their students' status, please remember that education is a partnership between the school, student, and caretakers, and that it takes each of us to support your child's success.
Have an amazing week!
Mark

Career Day (NEW)
AEHS has partnered with our PTSA to host a school-wide Career Day on Friday, March 3, 2023. This is a scheduled early release day.
On this day, we would like to have one career day speaker in every class, every period. We need your help to make that happen! Please see THIS flyer and share with friends, families, and associates you may know in any industry. Speakers do not have to be a degreed professional. We are looking for professionals who are in the military and trades as well. The flyer includes a QR code and link to THIS survey, which is being used to collect presenters information. We are also hopeful to forge partnerships with these business people so we can send students to them for future internship, school, and employment opportunities.
This is a first of it's kind at Albert Einstein High School. We are beyond excited for this event, and need your support!

The training has been deemed appropriate for ages 13 and up and students may receive SSL hours for attending.
COVID Reporting (REPEAT)
- Staff or students testing positive for COVID-19 must report their result through the MCPS COVID-19 Reporting Form and follow CDC isolation guidelines. Cases that are self-reported through the reporting tool are reflected on the MCPS COVID-19 Dashboard.
Once Upon a Prom (REPEAT)
Once Upon A Prom (OUAP) is a BCC club dedicated to providing free prom dresses to any girls whose economic or personal circumstances create hardships in their lives. All dresses are new or very gently worn. We have over 2,000 dresses in our collection, in all sizes and styles. Our doors are open to everyone. No student ID is required for entry.
Our mission is to ensure that prom is an inclusive event for all juniors and seniors. According to recent statistics, teens spend an average of $600-$800 on proms. The cost makes prom prohibitive for some teens. We want to ensure that this dream comes true for all students.

MCPS: Community Message (NEW)
Dear MCPS Students, Families and Staff,
As we now settle into the middle of the winter weather season, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is improving its process for informing the community when weather requires an operational status change and when a closure might justify a shift to virtual instruction. When it is determined that conditions are unsafe for students and staff, we have six operational status options, which will now be reported by easy-to-understand, color-coded messages.
