This Week in Third Grade
--October 20th Edition--
Dear Parents,
We had another great week of learning in third grade. Be sure to ask your favorite third grader about our science experiments involving changes from heat!
We hope you have been enjoying the fall weather as much as we have. With the cooler temperatures at recess time, please feel free to send your child with a coat or light jacket.
Student-led conferences will take place at Rucker on October 25th. if you haven't signed up with your child's teacher for a student-led conference, please do so as soon as possible. A sign-up genius was sent out from your child's teacher via email. The kids are so excited to share their goals with you.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Gratefully,
Your Rucker Third Grade Teachers
Classifying Properties of Mixtures!

Please click below to fill out the google form if you are interested in speaking about how mixtures are involved in your career to our third grade classes on Friday, November 1st. Please email Miss Nunn at nanunn@prosper-isd.net if you have any questions about this form or the process. We are so excited for this opportunity!
UIL
We are excited about our Rucker students having the opportunity to participate in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Competition. The competition will be held on February 11, 2020. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade events will be held at Folsom Elementary and 5th grade events will be held at Furr Elementary beginning at 4:30 PM. Students are allowed to select as many categories they are interested in. Students will be placed into a category and then train in that category until tryouts in January. Students may only compete in one category at the competition. Tryouts will be based on set criteria and will take place in January. We will form teams once all the interest forms are returned and then your student will attend practice sessions to prepare for competition. Please contact Miss Nunn with any questions or concerns. nanunn@prosper-isd.net

Science - What is change? How does change occur?
Students will explore how temperature causes change in states of matter at the conclusion of this unit.
Social Studies - Students create a Prosper Zoo Map at the conclusion of our maps unit. Students will demonstrate authentic understanding by creating a map including map features and communicate their idea using newly acquired vocabulary.
