6th Grade Counseling Newsletter
I am trying something new. I'd like to start e-mailing out a newsletter to teachers, sharing what is going on in the counseling office. My goal is to share information that teachers might be interested in knowing and supplying information about current groups the counseling office is running.
There are a few 6th graders who have still not returned their 7th grade registration forms, but most of the students did a great job getting them turned in. I am working with individual students to get their form turned in.
Groups
We have a number of groups running at SMS. There are 3 new groups forming. One is for 6th grade boys who are struggling to make friends (or keep friends) and need frequent reminders to follow school/social rules. The second group is open to all grade levels and is for students in unique family situations, the group name is Changing Families. Members of the group may have experienced a loss of a parent due to various reasons such as: death, divorce, or incarceration. If you have a student who you think would benefit from this group, please e-mail me the name. The third group is for new students. SMS has many new students that enroll after the first official day of school, and we want to be sure that the students are adjusting well. This month will be SMS's first new student breakfast.
Just a reminder February 29 is the start of the Garden Club, it is open to all grade levels and no gardening experience is necessary to join.
