Happy May!

As we begin to reach the end of spring (already!) the days of cold weather sickness is long behind us. But in case you've been fighting anything in your household, check out some tips below. I'm also sharing fun new diffuser blends (including my new favorite- Fruit Loops Blend!), a delicious kale chip recipe, reasons every girl needs Immortelle, important safety tips about photosensitive oils and more. As always, please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or any ideas of what you'd like to see in my newsletter or on the Facebook page!

The Power of Melaleuca & Oregano

Last month, I came across a great video that demonstrates how melaleuca and oregano fight bacteria in our body. I now keep a rollerbottle of each of these oils handy at all times. Twice this month, both my girls started with some yucky symptoms. I immediately used the melaleuca rollerbottle on their feet, followed by the diluted oregano. I applied often, and in both cases, the crisis was averted within a day or two! And of course, I had OnGuard diffusing to kill any extra funk in the air. Please take the time to watch the video below- the proof of these oils working really is amazing!
Killing Bacteria with Essential Oils

The diffuser corner

Here are a few diffuser recipes that have made me happy lately:

Fruit Loop Blend: 2 drops Bergamot, 2 drops Lime, 1 Drop Lemongrass
Spring Rain Blend: 3 drops Vetiver, 3 Drops Lemon
The Misty Morning Blend: 2 drops White Fir, 2 drops Frankincense, 1 drop Clove, 1 drop Peppermint

Oil I Love: Immortelle

A proprietary blend of powerfully renewing, rare essential oils used throughout history for their beautifying benefits, Immortelle Anti-Aging Blend is formulated to protect and nourish skin while helping to reduce inflammation — a major contributor to the aging process. Supporting skin at the cellular level, these essential oils help sustain smoother, more radiant, and youthful skin. Immortelle easily absorbs into the skin and can be used on the face, neck, and décolletage to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and aging skin.

Tips from dōTERRA:

• Apply a thin layer of Immortelle to the face, neck, and décolletage, then repeat application to targeted areas of concern. Follow with the dōTERRA moisturizer of your choice.

• Use on minor skin irritations to reduce the appearance of scars, blemishes, and stretch marks.

• Applied to the back of the neck and earlobes, Immortelle can help lessen tension throughout the day.

As warmer months approach, be aware of where you are applying your photosensitive oils. If you typically apply your ClaryCalm to your abdomen, apply to your feet during the summer if you wear a two-piece swimsuit. If you're a back-of-the-neck oiler with your Wild Orange, try the feet instead! Here is a list of the photosensitive oils to be aware of:
  • Bergamot
  • Cassia
  • Citrus Bliss
  • Elevation blend
  • Ginger (mild)
  • Grapefruit
  • Lemon
  • Lime
  • Melissa (mild)
  • Wild orange
  • **Any blends that contain any of these single oils

*Tip* The recommended dose on the bottle is 4 per day. We recommend starting out with 1 per day, and working your way up after about a month. I personally take 2 of each per day, and only bump it up to 4 if I'm sick.

Use your lemon oil as yummy flavor on crunchy, healthy kale chips!

What You Need:

1 large bunch kale, washed and torn into bite-size pieces

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 drops Lemon essential oil

Salt & Pepper

1. Preheat oven to 2oo degrees.

2. Wash and dry kale thoroughly.
3. Combine olive oil and Lemon essential oil in a large mixing bowl.

4. Put kale in a large mixing bowl and toss in oils.

5. Make sure all of the kale is well coated with oils by massaging each piece. Once coated, place on a baking sheet in a single layer.

6. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

7. Bake on the center rack for 45-50 minutes (or until nice and crispy). Keep an eye on the smaller pieces and take them out if they are done earlier, otherwise they will burn.

8. Place in a bowl and watch them disappear!
