How it is changing the world
Media
What the media is to me is a worldwide form of contacting people and staying updated on current events etc. The media has advanced over the years and has changed the way society works and how we function and work with people. It can be a huge help and advantage and also at the same time it can ruin you by a simple click on your mouse. The media can be your best friend and your worst enemy; people don’t understand the simple post can mess up your future in the business world and just your reputation in general. Anything that goes on the internet stays on the internet for ever period, and I think people are never mindful of that I will admit I’m guilty of that also. The thing is the media is very mind controlling and what you think was 10 min of you being on your phone or computer in reality it was an hour or more. People do not notice that at all, the type of websites and programs on the internet (media) that people get their hands on or figure out can be very helpful to the people or to yourself but also very brain washing. As time passes by and our society advances people find ways with media to make money off of the people or to even make life easier. The media has made our society very technical and simple but also very lazy and dumb. The media has its pros and cons but that’s with everything. What Media literacy means to me is the way people speak the English language on line and honestly everyone is guilty of messing the English language up when there online. For example when you are texting or on a social media site you don’t speak proper English nor spell the words correctly. Unless you are a reporter or a blogger etc. Or a professional you will always find ways to make your life easier on the internet. Media literacy to me is an easy way of dumbing down the English language.

Rhetorical precis for the RadioShack Super Bowl Commercial 2014
Radio shack in the commercial, “Radio Shack super bowl commercial 2014”, explains that the store was out dated and now it shows to the people that it is up to date completely. Radio Shack supports its explanation by illustrating in the commercial that all the old is out and all the new is in the, 80’s came took their stuff and the 21century showed what it is about now. Radios Shacks purpose was to show the “customers” that it has very much improved in order to persuade the “customers” to come and find that everything they want and are looking for is now in Radio Shack. Radio Shack televised this in a humorous way for the customers who are both male and female.

Teens getting crazy tattoos
Florida- Over the years teens have been mimicking famous celebrities over their style. One of the most common trends would be copying the tattoos of music artist. A teen by the name Bobby Johnson says “I got a tattoo of a egg to let them hatters know that they’ll come up scrambled if they mess with me!” This came to be a humorous answers, considering that a egg dose not strike fear into any ones heart. Rapper Gucci mane says “my ice cream on my face wasn’t a foolish mistake, I just happen to like ice cream “.
There are tons of questions to this like, why not just a simple design, or what makes you tattoo food on your body? Most teens start getting tattoos at the age of 17. Except the ones here in Miami start “inking up” their face at 10! This is a tragic story, because no one would want their child to look like a convict before they even hit high school.
Hopefully this small issue will come to an end soon enough before it gets way to extreme. And parents take action and charge of their children and start raising them the right way. From Charles smith in Florida stationed at the hippo stadium good night.

Historical event
Rosa Parks
Through time there were wars, slavery, Martin Luther King Junior and so on. One of the most extreme events that happened around this time was the Rosa Park story. Rosa was a regular citizen just like anyone else. She was a single mother, with 3 kids and an ordinary job, never got in trouble with the law ever. Everything was going just fine for her except one thing…… she wasn’t white! She was an uneducated Cuban female who was as dark a chocolate bar. One day Rosa chose to ride the Marta transit instead of driving. She happened to be sitting right in a comfortable seat that had nice and cold a/c because how hot it was that day. The only problem was that the seats where only for white people only. A man dressed in an all black suit, and suit case spotted Rosa and demanded that she get up from the seat and get off the train for not following the law. She responded in foul language and swung her fist towards the young white man. He yelled for someone to call 911 like a scared little school girl. The cops came beat her half to death and dragged her jail house. She went to court and the judge sent her to 15 years in jail. She did her time and got out early and began a civil rights movement for black people and their right. She was a great speaker but also was insanely violent women. Every time she would go on a strike or just leave the house and someone white person give her a bad look she would fight them. One day while she was on a strike she was introduce to a famous civil rights leader named Malcom x. They started to exchange their views on the civil rights situation and noticed they had A LOT in common. One thing leads to another and they began to date each other and started speaking and marching together at civil right movements. The problem about them being together is they were both very violent and caused a lot of violent protests. Every where they went there was a fight and just violence, they believed in a good future for the black community but they weren’t so peaceful at making that happening. The funny part about it is that the more violent they got the stronger their relationship got until one day Malcom asked Rosa to marry her and she said yes. Once that happened things got really bad and he began beating Rosa and she would fight back they just were a bad duo. Then came a day where they were at a protest at the Lincon memorial and they both started arguing and Malcom got so mad he pushed Rosa off the stairs in the memorial and she died. Everyone was so shocked even Malcom he was so shocked he went that far so right then and there he pulled a gun out and shot himself in the head. And that went on to become a very famous time in history.
I wrote about this because back in the civil rights days it was a serious time in history. Which people had very different approaches at fixing it.
Theme song for 1984
lyrics for "Imagine"
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
Reflection on the class
This year I can say I learned a lot more then I usually would in my past language arts classes. I say that because the previous years it was all so boring to me so I didn’t have much interest in the class. Mostly it depended on the teacher for me to actually want to do well in the class. Usually language arts teachers would just bore me out of this world and I wouldn’t want to do anything. So my grade would slowly start going down and I wouldn’t do anything until the end of the year. In this class I can proudly say it was a different story, I never let my grade drop below an 80 and I would turn everything on time. Honestly leaving this class I have learned not to believe anything at all I see on the media or TV. I also learned to use better and stronger vocab in my writing I used to just write anything and hope it sounded correct but now it all makes sense to actually make my writing in a stronger way. Learning to write a précis really taught me to always look more into writing, ad, or anything satirical. There was a lot that we went into depth with and honestly it helped me understand the topic were on. What I enjoyed a lot was the class discussions really helped me see everyone views on all types of topics and helped me understand different point of views. Something that could be done better in the future is nothing honestly the way the class went every day went really smoothly and I was comfortable and always knew what was going on. Looking back and thinking how clueless I was about a lot of things have really opened my thinking and opinion’s to a lot more subjects on life and the world we live in. one thing I do regret is not trying my complete best, my grade is an 86 and the highest I can get is to at least an 88. I know I could of gotten an A in this class easily but I just half ass it, I am glad to say this is the highest my language arts grade has ever been. The teacher like I said before really did have a huge part in me actually passing because I was very interested in his teaching method and he was not like any other teacher he actually understood the students and was never unfair like a lot of these in the school.
