Happy Holidays, RMS Community
Greetings, RMS and a very Happy Holiday season to you and yours. As we get ready to welcome 2024, we wanted to thank all of our community for their collaboration and support in making it a great start to our school year. Certainly we have endured challenges and obstacles and with the support of all of you we have been able to show our students that we are all capable of achieving success, even when it it's hard.
As we enter our Winter Break, this is an excellent time to discuss with your child/children about their thoughts about the school year thus far, set goals for when they return, and to highlight successes and areas of growth. In addition, it is also a great time for students to get outside, reset their sleep schedules, and prepare for a strong start to 2024.
Again, thank you all for contributing to making RMS the amazing place it is. It truly does, 'take a village' and we are thankful you are part of it. Please read below for important information and updates.
Have a very Happy Holiday and a terrific beginning to 2024!

RMS' November Students of the Month
Each month six students of the RMS community are given the Student of the Month award for outstanding citizenship and for consistently demonstrating the 3 R's (Responsibility, Respect, and being Ready). Students are presented the award at our monthly school assembly so our school can celebrate their achievement. Please join us in congratulating (from left to right):
Sydney Poole and Emma Moye (8th Grade), Avery Gorey (7th Grade), Chase Hunter and Rily LaVoie (6th Grade), and Ryan Bublat (7th Grade).
RMS Receives Donation From Exxon Mobil
RMS received a generous award from the Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance Grant. The donation was in the amount of $500.00 to go toward our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programming.
Panorama Family Survey
RMS families should have received an email that looked like this, a few weeks ago from our Central Office. Please take the time to fill out this survey, as it helps us make informed decisions as to how to focus our school improvement efforts. Currently only 26 of our 234 families have responded. (that's roughly 11.1% and we would like to get this number closer to 90% so that our feedback is reliable).
If you did not receive the email, you can contact us and we will help you out or you can press the button below for a direct link to the survey.

Dear RMS Music Students and Families,
On Thursday, January 18th the work of all RMS students in their enrichment classes will be on display for family, friends and the greater community. The evening will begin with gallery time to view student work in the different disciplines and will culminate in a concert performance featuring students in all of the RMS music classes, including Chorus, Cosmos (a.k.a. Concert) Band and Modern Band.
More information, including times will be sent out to families in the coming weeks. Please mark your calendars for this exciting event to celebrate student work!

RMS Mini Courses
Before the Thanksgiving Break, students signed up for mini courses. These courses focused on RMS staff talent and interests and then were shaped into two day classes. Course topics included: biking, Tai Chi, preparing Thanksgiving meal kits for the Springfield Community Center, learning different languages, felting, and many more. We are thankful for the donations we received from Springfield area businesses to help make these courses possible.
