Butterfly Garden
Hello Pewaukee Families!
As part of High Interest Day on June 7th, we will be continuing to plant our butterfly garden at Horizon. Last year we were able to plant a section of the garden with donations from community members, and this year we need your help again!
From June 4th-6th, we will be collecting donations of perennials. If you have perennials in your garden that you would like to get rid of, we will gladly take them! There will be pools with water set up in the front of Horizon starting on June 4th, and you can drop them off anytime that week. If you have plants, but are unable to bring them to school, please contact Lynsey DeWitt (dewilyn@pewaukeeschools.org) and she will organize a time to pick them up for you! We appreciate all of your help! We could not do this without you, and for that we are grateful!
Language Arts
The class worked hard to finish up their Memoir writing piece this week. This writing is personal and I have been so impressed by the lessons your kids have learned in their short lives. I can't wait for you to read them!
Have a great weekend!
Math
- Popcorn Prism Activity- students were asked to make two rectangular prisms with the same surface area and determine if they would old the same amount of popcorn (have the same volume). Students were surprised at the results! Ask your child about it.
- Reviewed 5th Grade Concepts- students received more help on concepts they weren't proficient in this year (focusing on fractions and decimals)
Next week:
- Volume Retake- students that didn't demonstrate proficiency on our most recent test, volume, have an opportunity to complete a retake test.
Mrs. Quick's Math Class
This week we:
Wrapped up our unit on The Four Quadrants by problem solving on the coordinate plane
Used multiple representations - situations written in words, equations, tables, and graphs - to solve problems
Interpreted data and changes in data
Analyzed advantages and disadvantages of using different mathematical tools (listed above) to solve problems
Took our last assessment of the year!
Next week, we’ll fit in as much about the Statistical Process as we can!
