What's happening at the Ship?

The Captain's Corner
Dear Pirate Families,
With the completion of the first quarter of the 21-22 school year nearing and temperatures finally falling below 80, there is a hint of fall in the air. We are incredibly proud of our students and their accomplishments during the first few weeks of the year. We want to express our appreciation to our faculty and staff for all they continue to do for FBMS. And, of course, we could not do what we do without the support of our families and community!
We enjoyed seeing our families at our recent Open House event! Thank you to everyone who was able to attend. We look forward to hosting more events in person when it is safe to do so. Until that time, please know that we are still available to assist our families as needed. Please do not hesitate to call the school or reach out to us through our school remind and school website if you have questions or need assistance. We value your interest and involvement in our school and your child’s education. As we look for additional ways to connect with our families, we invite you to join our school Facebook page: Fernandina Beach Middle School (the profile picture is a pirate) and follow us on Twitter at FBMSPirates.
This week, we are kicking off our fall PTO fundraiser, “Step It Up!" The proceeds for this fundraiser will go towards PTO supported programs, including student activities and student recognition. We also know that our families are extremely busy each day, and this fundraiser is quick, easy, and safe for our students. Please help your child register and support our school. Our PTO meets on the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 in the media center. All parents are welcome!
Recently, we were made aware of two social media “challenges” encouraging students to steal belongings and tear up school property. We have high expectations for our students and trust them to help us take care of their school. Our goal is to not only preserve the history and pride of FBMS, but to make it the most beautiful campus in our district. If we are plagued with repairs due to vandalism, this will be almost impossible. Parents, please help us by having a conversation with your child regarding the expense and ramifications of such activities.
Thank you to our families and community members for welcoming us to Fernandina Beach Middle School. We look forward to a great school year!
Educationally yours,
Dr. Crawford
