After completing this unit students will be able to:
- Use academic vocabulary to effectively discuss and analyze works of fiction while using text evidence to support inferences they make. (RL.1.1)
- Explain how a story is structured, and how conflict and characters are introduced and developed, as well as how the conflict is resolved. (RL.1.3)
- Summarize the story's plot and determine the theme, or universal truth about life the author expresses in his story. (RL.1.2)
