CES Students Participate in Project Straw
Once again, I am thoroughly impressed with the many experiential learning opportunities provided to our students. This week, our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th graders participated in Project STRAW (Students, Teachers, Restoring Aquatic Wetlands). Our students were trained on the importance of wetlands, then had an opportunity to make a difference by gearing up in waders and planting willows to help restore some stream channels. Through this experience, they traded in a classroom day to work hard in the field and get wet and muddy! A big thanks to the many organizations including Point Blue Conservation Science, BLM, Forestry Service, PUSD, and our teachers and parent volunteers who made this opportunity a reality for our students.
