What are Emotions?

Emotions are feelings that a person has. It is normal to express emotions, and there are a lot of emotions to be expressed. Some emotions that need to be expressed are happiness, fear, anger, sadness, and love. Keeping your emotions bottled up can be very bad and unhealthy. Some emotions can cause something called stress.

What is Stress?

Stress is the body’s reaction to the demands of daily living. A stressor is something that can cause stress, for example tests, traffic, or relationships. Stress is a natural part of life because it allows the body to release some hormones. There are two types of stress, eustress, and distress. Eustress is positive stress, but distress is negative stress.

How the Body Reacts to Stress

Stress Management Skills

There are Four Steps to Stress Management:


  1. Identify the signs of stress
  2. Identify the cause(s) of stress
  3. Do something about the cause
  4. Take action to lessen the harm.


Helpful Ways to Get Rid of Stress:


  • Plan your day
  • Get physical exercise
  • Get plenty of rest and sleep
  • Eat healthy
  • Plan fun time with friends
  • Talk to a parent or guardian
