Gifted Curriculum
First Grade:
Primarily Plants – Students explore plant growth; seeds, spores and more; plant needs; and plant parts.
Gifts – Students explore sentimental, personal, historical, symbolic, endangered and fragile gifts as they relate to supply and demand.
Second Grade:
Where is the Beach? Students examine coastal erosion
Ancient China- The Middle Kingdom
Third Grade:
What a Find! – Students analyze natural and cultural systems.
Ancient Egypt – Students explore the gifts of the Nile.
Hands-On Equations – Students manipulate pawns to solve algebraic equations
Fourth Grade:
Acid, Acid Everywhere – Students explore chemical, ecological and transportation systems. The World Turned Upside Down – Students study the American Revolution.
A House Divided? - Students analyze the causes and effects of the Civil War
Hands-On Equations– Students manipulate pawns to solve algebraic equations.
Fifth Grade:
Electricity City – Students explore, design and create an electrical system
Hands-On Equations – Students manipulate pawns to solve algebraic equations. Autobiographies and Memoirs – Students will create their own digital autobiographies.
In addition to the set curriculum, each gifted specialist will also incorporate other topics of study that are of special interest to students. Students will learn to play chess & chess strategy with Mrs. Rowe on Mondays. Students will also have the opportunity to compete in various competitions including the Book Trailer Contest and Media Festival.
