The Central Bucks Board Note
April 2022 Meetings in Review
Congratulations to Our National Merit Scholarship Finalists
Students who have achieved finalist status in the National Merit Scholarship Competition were invited to the board's April meeting in order to be recognized for this incredibly significant achievement. This status is attained by less than 1% of high school students nationwide.
Each of the district's 15 finalists will be considered for one of 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million. For further context - about 1.5 million juniors in the U.S. entered the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which served as the initial screen of program entrants. To become a finalist, a student must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by the high school principal, and earn SAT or ACT scores that confirm the student’s earlier performance on the qualifying test.
Superintendent Dr. Abram M. Lucabaugh noted, "This level of success may only be reached through hard work, sacrifice, and dedication, not to mention the support of their families, their teachers, and many others who helped along the way. On behalf of the board, your school district, and the entire Central Bucks school community – please accept our sincere congratulations and best wishes for your continued success."
CB East’s National Merit Scholarship Finalists are Michael Bliss, Esther Cheng, Haley Kloss, Alicia Luo, and Ethan Zhang. CB South's finalists are: Mehir Badlani, Rachel Feng, Nicole Hang, Srinithi Krishnamoorthy, Michael Rehmet, Ananya Siragavarapu, Alexander Wang, and Benjamin Zhang. CB West’s finalists are Ryan Horst and Eric Mass.
