February - Awareness and History
Teen Dating Violence Awareness
According to a report from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, in 2022, "In the United States, up to 19% of teens experienced sexual or physical dating violence, about half face stalking or harassment, and as many as 65% report being psychologically abused.
Dating violence is described as a pattern of controlling behaviors that one partner uses to get power over the other.
According to Education Week or edweek .org, "teens who experience dating violence are more likely to experience violence in relationships as adults, have higher rates of depression and suicide attempts and abuse drugs and alcohol in adulthood."
