Bartholomew Diaz was born in 1450, in Algarve, Portugal. He discovered the Cape of Good Hope, near the southern tip of Africa. He was a portugese navigator and explorer who led the first European expedition to round the Cape of Good Hope (1488), opening the sea route to Asia. Obviously he was very adventurous and ambitious. The purpose of his voyages was to explore asia and he ended up finding The Cape of Good Hope and the opening sea route to asia. He had two children. Bartholomew Diaz died May 29. 1500.
