Back to School Night

Thank you to all who attended our Back to School Night. It was wonderful to see such a large turnout.

PSSA results from assessments taken in the Spring 2015 were mailed home on Friday, September 18, 2015. We are very proud of our students' performance. For additional information about the PSSA results please click here http://www.cbsd.org/Page/30060. If you did not receive the PSSA results in the mail, please contact your child's counselor.

Magazine Drive

Our major fundraiser for the year was successfully kicked off last week. This year we will be selling magazine subscriptions and cookie dough. Click here for additional details.

For the safety of students and staff, please be aware of our school policy concerning entering our building. All exterior doors are locked and all visitors must enter through the main office doors. Please be prepared to buzz in - state your name, reason for visit and to show a picture id.

We understand this may take a few extra minutes during your visit but we feel the time is important for the safety of all. Thank you in advance for understanding.

Boomerang Award

The Boomerang Youth Recognition Award is a monthly program which recognizes and honors youth in our community for exemplifying and living by one of 9 chosen Developmental Assets (one asset for each month from Sept.-May). The 40 Developmental Assets, are positive experiences, behaviors, and personal qualities that all youth need to possess, in order to be responsible, caring, and strong in the face of peer pressures and other life challenges.

A ballot box is located on our Lenape Middle School website. Youth can be nominated for the award by any member of the community. In fact, students can nominate themselves or their friends. Each school submits one student who best represents the chosen quality. A rotating committee of community “judges” which includes representatives from CB CARES,Outback Steakhouse, law enforcement, community nonprofits, local and state government, and local businesses, chooses one student (elementary, middle and, high school) from amongst the nominations. These district-wide winners receive a letter and certificate of recognition, a gift certificate from Outback Steakhouse in Jamison, their picture appears in the Bucks County Herald, and their name is engraved on a plaque at Outback. An end-of-the-year June luncheon, which includes all Boomerang Award recipients, their parents, and community judges, additionally serves as a celebration of this recognition. It should be noted that ALL students who have been nominated for this award receive a gift from CB CARES as an acknowledgement of this honor.

You can read more about the Boomerang Award and find the link to the online nomination form here.

The Central Bucks Wellness Committee is collaborating with the Doylestown Food Co-Op and the CB Family & Consumer Science department to present a screening of the movie Fed Up on Thursday, October 15th at 7:00 PM at Lenape Middle School followed by a panel discussion with local health professionals. Student Health News

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year. I hope everyone had a great summer.

Central Bucks School District is state mandated to ensure that each student in certain grade levels has a dental and physical examination. Physicals and dentals are required for all new students in all grades. Dental examinations are required for all students entering grade 7. The forms for these examinations were sent home in the spring from your child's elementary school. If you need another blank form, you may download it off of the cbsd.org website or contact me and I can send it to you.

During an audit, Central Bucks can be cited by the state for non-compliance if all dental and physical examination records are not on file. More importantly, having up to date and accurate medical information about our students will better ensure that we can respond appropriately to any medical needs students present at school. For families where this would cause an economic hardship, the school district will provide these examinations at school, free of charge. Should you require this assistance please contact your school nurse. Please understand that these examinations are important not only because they are state mandated but also because they provide valuable information about the health of your child. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

His message captivates students with stories that touch the heart and make them laugh. Tom ends the speech with a challenge for every students to BE THE CHANGE! Tom will speak to all CBSD Middle School 7th grade students on Wednesday, September 30th. Also, Lenape is hosting a special presentation for all CBSD parents that evening at 6:30 PM.
