What is fair use?

Fair use is a limitation and exception to the exclusive right granted by copyright law to the author of a creative work.

Why is fair use important?

You should know all about fair use because if you copy something that is not yours you can get in a lot of trouble so its good to use that work properly and still giving the creator credit fro their work.

Four Factors Of Fair Use

  • Purpose & Characters- Why am I using it? Am i using it to copy?
  • Nature of the original work- Creative or imformational.
  • Amount used- How much can you use? 30 seconds.
  • Did it harm the market for original work?

What happens if you plagarise?

You can get fines of anywhere between $100 and $50,000 and up to one year in jail. Plagiarism can also be considered a felony under certain state and federal laws. For example, if a plagiarist copies and earns more than $2,500 from copyrighted material, he or she may face up to $250,000 in fines and up to ten years in jail.
