Wisconsin waters is the theme for this year's state Capitol Holiday tree in Madison and our students were invited to decorate the tree by sending handmade ornaments showing what Wisconsin's waterways mean to them.
All 5th and 6th grade students made ornaments to be on display at the Capitol. And, yesterday, they were decorating the tree!
Welcome to the HHASD Family!

This month we celebrated Ms. Jeni Kastner for her initiative, creativity, and attention to detail in planning and preparing for a large-scale event to both honor our local veterans and bring our community together. This event further showcased the talents and thoughtfulness of our students and staff.
Discussion & Action
Also approved was a resolution to DPI requesting the ability to begin school prior to September 1, 2023. There is state law that indicates that public schools in Wisconsin cannot begin school prior to September 1st. However, in preparing for next year, a majority of the Hartford Area Schools are looking to begin school on August 29th. In order to align our school calendars for families that have children in both districts, we too, have filed a request to be able to begin school early. A calendar has not been approved yet. However, for planning purposes, if the waiver is approved, the recommendation will be to ease into the 2023-24 school year by having three days of school (August 29 - 30 - 31), followed by a four day week (Sept 5 - 6 - 7- 8), and then five day weeks. (This would create a similar start to this school year.)
Also approved were new employee benefits including expanding WRS to Category 42 employees and the ability to pursue a Flexible Spending Account.
Finally, the Long Range Capital Improvement Plan was approved.

Children with Special Health Care Needs Preparedness for Emergencies: Connecting schools and EMS agencies
Medical emergencies at school are unexpected and anxiety-inducing, especially for children with special health care needs. Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) has made it possible for local emergency medical service (EMS) agencies to be prepared.
The program, known as CAPE (Children with Special Health Care Needs Preparedness for Emergencies), connects EMS and schools to help prepare both organizations in case of an emergency.
See the documents below if you are interested in participating in this optional program that allows the Richfield Fire Company to be aware of any preexisting medical conditions your child may have.
