The Fowler Weekly
January 29-February 2, 2024
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello Parents!
I need to share with you all that we have now ordered and given out 1,200 string bags for students to use during semester 1. The string bag is intended to carry pens, pencils, an iPad and maybe 1 book or notebook so students can take items to and from their locker. Some students have also overloaded their bags with almost all of their worldly possessions at times and that caused the bags to wear out much faster than expected. As we move forward, we will offer students replacement bags for $1 if they need and want one, or students can purchase a more durable small string bag (athletic shoe bag) at any store or even use tokens in our student store as we are ordering some unique TTSD bags that will be available for purchase. The string bags are not a necessity, as a majority of students simply use their lockers for personal items and swap out the essential class items during passing times.
This is the last week of our 1st semester, and we look forward to students finishing strong and preparing for a fabulous semester 2!
Be well,
Andy
HAPPENINGS
Congratulations to Fowler trumpeter James Archibald, who performed in the All-State Middle School Honor Band in Eugene on January 11 and 12. The All-State Honor Band is comprised of about 110 students from all over Oregon, who are selected by recorded audition to perform in the group. Congratulations, James!
Winter ASA is off and running. It is rarely too late for a student to sign up for ASA. The only exception would be if an activity has filled. Forms are available here: English Español
The final day of Quarter 2 and Semester 1 is this Thursday, February 1.
With the end of the quarter comes Spirit Week! This week, Monday-Thursday, we hope students will participate and show some spirit! Here are the different themes:
Monday, 1/29: Comfy Day
Tuesday, 1/30: Twin Day
Wednesday, 1/31: School Spirit Out (elementary, middle, high school, college gear )
Thursday, 2/1: Mismatch & Crazy Accessories Day
Our ASA Wrestling Club has their first Jamboree this Tuesday, January 30. The bus will leave Fowler at 3:20pm and return at 7:30pm. Students WILL need a ride home at that time. Go Falcons!
Fowler Leadership students will be selling Valograms during lunch this Thursday, February 1, and Wednesday, February 7, for $1. Valograms will be distributed to students on Valentines Day.
Required Immunizations: We are trying to make calls for those students who still have outstanding immunizations. If you are unsure if this applies to your student (the majority are 7th grade students) please reach out to Teresa Weitz, tweitz@ttsd.k12.or.us, in our counseling office and she can assist you.
Oregon’s immunization exclusion day is February 21, 2024.
Failure to meet Oregon’s requirements by February 21, 2024 will result in students being excluded from school until their immunizations are up-to-date.
OUTDOOR SCHOOL-6th Grade Parents
Outdoor School Packets were due in the Main Office last Friday, January 26.
If you have not already done so, PLEASE send the paperwork in TOMORROW!
We DO need a packet for every student, even those who do not plan to attend. Here is a webpage that includes many resources that may help you as you make this decision and/or complete the paperwork.
The week a student attends is dependent on their Science teacher. Unfortunately, we are unable to make exceptions for students that would prefer to go the opposite week.
Students who have Miss Rendell or Mr. Jacobs for Science will attend Week 1 (March 12-15)
Students who have Maestra Vega or Mr. Walker for Science will attend Week 2 (March 19-22)
