OLVCS Updates
December 9, 2022
“It is the beautiful task of Advent to awaken in all of us memories of goodness and thus to open doors of hope.”
Pope Benedict XVI
Dear Families and Friends of Our Lady of Victory Catholic School,
What better way is there to awaken memories of goodness than to see the joy of children at this time of year? Our Christmas Concert on Wednesday, as it does every year, put that on full display, and I would like to acknowledge the people who made it possible. Ms. Sherry Capozzi taught each class new songs and always balances the fun and the sacred. Mrs. Sandy Muller and Mrs. Patrese Huff directed our instrumentalists through some challenging and festive arrangements. Thank you, ladies, and thank you to the teachers who assisted with rehearsals. Of course, all of our students should be commended on their performances.
Also this week, the doors of hope were opened by the generosity of our families participating in the Toys for Tots drive sponsored by Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy student and alum, Samantha Zally. The container could not hold all of the gifts offered. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this collection!
One more note this week: Anyone who has entered our school building or called our office has spoken to Mary Cawley. In fact, I’ve seen Mary simultaneously take a phone call, answer a radio call from Parent Pick-up, and buzz someone in through the entrance door, all with her typical controlled calm and cheerfulness. I can’t imagine anyone better as our “front of house” expert, and everyone she comes in contact with her knows what I mean. Next Thursday is Mary’s birthday so, if you see or speak to her, be sure to wish this amazing woman a happy birthday.
Please see the rest of our newsletter for important events and dates coming soon.
God bless all,
Jim Hoy
