Cougs Rise is an initiative of the office of Provost funded by grants from the U.S Department of Education. The program offers low-income and first -generation students from Hudson's Bay High School college preparation programming and mentor ship designed to boost their chances of earning a college degree.

Cascadia Tech Academy -

Manufacturing Hiring Fair

Students who have experience in the following areas should consider applying to attend the Manufacturing Hiring Fair: CAD/Modeling, woodworking, machining, metals/fabrication, welding, automotive technology, diesel technology, aviation technology, maritime maintenance, small engine repair, electronic applications, robotics, intro/pre-engineering, carpentry/construction, and material science.
This event will be to focus solely on high school seniors who are seeking entry or mid-level manufacturing positions, depending on their experience. There will be several local employers in the manufacturing industry attending.
Maintenance Day with Vancouver Public Schools (VPS)
Wednesday, May 22, 11 AM – 2 PM. The VPS Maintenance Dept. will provide a BBQ lunch for you at their location. Tour and rotate through four different workstations to learn about some of the tools and tasks that the maintenance department handles each day.
Pick up a field trip form in the Career Center and return completed forms by Monday, May 20.

- Shelter Assistant: clean litter boxes, wash bedding, sweep, vacuum, feed/water, give medications, play with/socialize cats.
- Foster Care: provide safe, stress-free, healthy home environment to socialize and love kittens and cats while you prepare them for a forever home.
- Petsmart Adoption Center Shifts: clean litter boxes, sweep, feed/water, play with/socialize cats.
- Weekend Adoption Events: Time commitment varies; transport cats and equipment to local events; be friendly, outgoing and professional with public and prospective adopters. Also, fundraising, senior visits/pet therapy visits, voicemail and email support.

AIA Southwest Washington
ARCHITECTURE SCHOLARSHIPS: A joint program of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Southwest Washington Chapter and AIA National, distributes scholarships to students from southwest Washington State, pursuing a career in architecture. SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: One or more scholarships of $1,000 -$2,000 each will be awarded for the 2018-2019 academic year. (If no entry is deemed satisfactory, AIA SWW retains the right to not award a scholarship.) Scholarships are renewable at $500 or more yearly, for students demonstrating continued success in the pursuit of an architectural degree.
ELIGIBILITY: Scholarships are offered to graduates of high schools in Pierce, Thurston, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Skamania, Wahkiakum, Grays Harbor, Clark, or Cowlitz Counties in Washington State who have been accepted into an accredited architectural degree program. This includes recent graduates with direct admission into an architecture program, and second year college students who have just been accepted into an accredited architectural program.
Oregon/Oregon/SW Washington Chapter of the Association for Learning Environments (herein A4LE) Scholarship
This is a competitive, merit-based scholarship program designed for graduating students who seek financial support for their pursuit of post-secondary educational opportunities in similar fields represented by members of A4LE.
Qualifications:
1. The candidate shall be a graduating high school student.
2. The candidate shall have a cumulative academic average of 3.5 or higher.
3. The candidate shall have leadership potential as measured by leadership roles in school or community activities, or by creativity and vision demonstrated through participation in school or community activities.
4. The candidate will submit a personal and creative essay, video, digital resource, etc. on the required Essay Subject:
“There has been increasing evidence that the design and condition of an educational facility has significant impact on the quality of education and a student’s ability to learn. In 500 words or less, describe how the design and condition of your high school facility has contributed to the quality of your education. Has the facility made a positive impact? Negative? Both? Describe the changes to your high school facility that you would propose, that if implemented, would improve the quality of education for future students.”
5. The candidate must be accepted into a post-secondary educational program following their graduation, (i.e.: university, technical school, community college, etc.).
6. Applicant must be from an Oregon/SW Washington School District which currently has a member in A4LE.
Award Value:
The amount of this Scholarship will be a one-time lump sum of $2,000, to be applied toward post-secondary education.

Vancouver Association of Principals and Associate Principals 2019 VAPA Scholarship
This scholarship is open to all VPS seniors who plan to pursue a career in K-12
education. This competitive scholarship will take note of academic achievement,
participation in school activities beyond the classroom, and service to the community.
Applications will be available at all VPS High Schools.
All applications must be postmarked or delivered by Friday, May 10, 2019.
