Principal's Message
January 17, 2020
It has been a great week - especially for our 8th grade students. From Titan Night to Titan Day and Career Day, our oldest students have been busy keeping up with their school work, their many extra curricular activities, and also planning for the future. Luckily, over 190 of them will be having fun tonight at our 8th grade semi-formal for some much-deserved fun.
In addition, 8 go 9 course recommendations should now be available in the parent/student portal. When you log in, you can see these recommendations by finding “Backpack” in the left index. As students prepare to select courses for next year, recommendations can be one more data point for students and parents to discuss course options for next year. 8th graders will sit down with counselors later this month to make their final selections. All families should have received letters detailing the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade course selection process which all take place over the next few weeks.
As we head into Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend, I hope we can all take some time to think about the life and work of one of our nation’s great leaders. On our morning show today, I shared a quote from Dr. King with our students that he wrote in his Letter from a Birmingham Jail (1963). When urged to use caution and to wait, Dr. King responded, “The time is always right to do what is right.” I hope all of us can keep this in mind over the long weekend and make sure we are making the time to do what is right.
Stay warm,
