Noise Pollution
By William DeBoer
noise pollution is affecting the economy
noise is affecting peoples lives like hear Occupational hearing loss is one of the most common work-related illnesses in the United States. Approximately 22 million U.S. workers exposed to hazardous noise levels at work, and an additional 9 million exposed to ototoxic chemicals. An estimated $242 million is spent annually on worker’s compensation for hearing loss disability." this is where peoples lives are affected by noise and there job as well.
What work should do -->
It also is affecting the Enviroment
Ben Wolford ask scientists about this in Newsweek and learns this " Extreme noise pollution has been known to kill hundreds of whales and dolphins at a time. In the worst case, they say it could someday lead to an extinction right before our eyes. "We're filling their ocean with noise," says Christopher W. Clark, a senior scientist at Cornell University. He tells Newsweek that, "their whole social network is dependent on calling back and forth." It's how they find food and stick together. He believes the constant groan of ship engines has already contributed to slow reproduction of the large, aquatic mammals." this is horrible and he goes on to talk about how it also affects other animals that rely on noise for things such as mating to start dieing off.
How can we prevent it
- only use honking on cars if needed
- keep t.v.s turned off when not using them as well as other electronics that emit noise
- keep noises generally low in public
- keep headphones on low to keep from going deaf
- give headphones to workers that work in high noise areas
- use less noise while sailing and while in nature reservations so animals can hear each other
More about noise pollution
where we have noise pollution if we didn't the world would be a lot calmer and we would be able to hear everything such as bird calls and calls to keep family close so that saves the animals that rely on sound and less people would be deaf from these things. also as noise is invisible we can't see it so we fail to know sometimes if its even there so its hard to create visuals of what it looks like but we can show you what it does it beaches whales and makes extreme amounts of people go deaf during work which is something the world can see as a difference and why we would need to stop noise pollution.
