LECC TIGER TALK
Loveland Early Childhood Center eNewsletter July 29, 2021
Summer is flying by us!
Dear LECC Tiger Cub Families,
I hope this message finds you well! LECC has been hosting the K-4 summer programs this week. It is so nice to see and hear students in the building again. Our maintenance staff did an amazing job preparing the classrooms and shared spaces for our young learners to use this summer. And the team of educators, who are staffing the summer program, are working hard to provide exciting and engaging learning opportunities. Also, shout out to our exceptional health and food services team members, who are here supporting these programs this summer as well!
One of my favorite memories as a young learner is my teacher reading to us as a class! To connect with your Tiger Cub, below is a link to me reading “Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late!,” written and illustrated by Mo Willems. Mo Willems is an author/illustrator that my own kids enjoy when we snuggle up at night to read. So I hope you and your Tiger Cub can find a moment to snuggle up and enjoy as well! Be on the lookout for future links to readings of some of my favorite books that I would like to share with you at home!
The LEPTA Beautification Committee is planning a volunteer event here at LECC on August 7, 2021 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. We hope many of you can find some time to volunteer as a family to “spruce” up our playground so that it is ready for our Tiger Cubs to enjoy on the first day of school. Please see the information below for more details.
Finally, lots of planning is still occurring at LECC to prepare staff and families for the first day of school. Please keep an eye out for our August Tiger Talks that will include information about the beginning of the school year as items are finalized and ready to share. And as always, please reach out to us if you have any questions. We are here to help!
It’s a great day to be a Tiger!

School Transportation 2021-22 School Year
Due to the pandemic, many of our families chose to transport their children to and from school last year. For the 21-22 school year, we want to encourage students and families to make use of school bus transportation as they normally would have pre-pandemic. While the opportunity to drop off and pick up your child directly from school is always possible, the traffic challenges that accompany a large volume of parent traffic create issues for us here at school that our school grounds can not accommodate. While we all managed this situation last year the best we could, it inevitably led to students reporting to school tardy at an increased rate, as well as other inherit school grounds issues.
We appreciate your consideration of this as you determine transportation logistics for your child this school year.
If your student is currently in K-7 and did not ride the bus during the 2020-21 school year, and intends on riding next year, please fill out this form.
Mask Policy Update
During the June 3 work session, the Loveland City Schools Board of Education voted unanimously to approve a new mask policy for the district. When Ohio Governor Mike DeWine lifted the state’s COVID-19 mask requirements, the decision-making power returned to local school boards. The new policy aims to balance parental and individual decision-making with the requirement that the district complies with the law.
The policy reads in part, “the decision to wear face coverings/masks on school buses, in school buildings, or at other school events, will be left to adult individuals and parents/guardians of K-12 students.”
The Board is also committed to complying with the law and any mandates of the Governor, state and local health departments, and the Ohio Department of Education. The policy also reads, “when any of these Directing Entities requires staff, students, and visitors to wear face coverings/masks while attending school, reporting to work at a school, or visiting a school, the District’s Administration will follow and enforce such directives.”
“Thank you to the parents who worked with us during this important process to guide the Board to do what makes sense for our students, parents, staff, and community,” Superintendent Brad Neavin said.
The full policy as adopted can be viewed on BoardDocs.
