FROM MRS. LANGSTON TO MAXIMIZE HOME AND SCHOOL COMMUNICATION
You are invited to attend the Community Forum meeting for Attendance Boundary Planning
Parents and Guardians,
Please see the information included about the upcoming community meeting regarding attendance boundary planning. You are invited to attend.
We're Under Construction!
Thank you parents for coming out to hear from the architect and project manager about our construction. This week we'll put the plans in our lobby for you to view if you weren't able to attend. Please let us know if you have any questions.
How does a campus earn a distinction?
- Distinction designations are awarded for achievement in several different areas and are based on performance relative to a group of campuses of similar type, size, grade span, and student demographics.
- All distinction designations for a campus are based on performance that is in the top quartile (Q1) of its comparison group.
- Attendance rates are an indicator in five of the six areas.
- The areas are: Academic Achievement in Reading/English Language Arts, Academic Achievement in Mathematics, Academic Achievement in Science, Top 25 Percent: Student Progress, Top 25 Percent: Closing Performance Gaps, Postsecondary Readiness
- Attendance rates are based on student attendance for the entire school year
- The minimum attendance score for quartile one was 97.5
- OCE's attendance score for 2015 -16 was 97.4
We are unable to determine the group of schools we are assigned to but, we ARE able to have a positive impact on our attendance. Please take a moment to look at our school's attendance data. Are we improving with absences and tardy incidents or is our need for improvement growing? This is something we can work on together to have OCE reach its full potential!
FBISD Tips to Improve Your Child's Attendance
Ultimately, parents are responsible for getting their children to school. Here are a few tips to consider:
- Schedule doctor’s appointments before or after school or during holidays.
- If your child is ill, email the Attendance Clerk the first morning of their absence.
- Arrive to school on time and attend every class period.
- Make school attendance a habit. This can carry over when seeking employment.
- Ask for help from your campus counselor if you are having trouble with your child.
