Help Flynn School at Drop Off
Arrival Time: Please do not drop off your child before 8 a.m.
Be Patient: Drop off will get faster and more efficient! We are trying to keep everyone safe.Hugs and Kisses: Please have your child ready for a temperature scan when you drive up to one of our Flynn greeters. Hugs, kisses and goodbyes should be done prior to driving up.
Masks: Be sure everyone in the car has a mask on.
Online Screenings: Be sure you have filled out your child's daily screening online before 7:30 each morning through powerschool (link below)
Picking Up your Child: Be sure your child knows how they are getting home (walking, vehicle, bike)
Daily Online Health Screenings to be Done at Home
- Online Health Screenings: Before students leave home each day, all families should complete an online screening form through their PowerSchool account. The form contains four questions, including asking about fevers, other COVID systems, physical distancing, and travel. The form takes less than 30 seconds to complete per child, and includes instructions on what do if any of the questions are answered “yes” (in most cases, the student should not leave home for school). Step-by-step instructions can be seen here and a tutorial video is available on the District YouTube page.

Nurse Mary News
Welcome back. I am excited to see all my Flynn students and families again. Hope everyone is well. I wanted to mention a couple things.
- Kindergarten and new incoming students who are missing immunizations need to be up to date or have an appointment to receive them prior to attending school. If you have an appointment to receive immunizations, please have your primary care physician send verification.
- I will be making arrangements to receive any medication or epi pens that students need at school. Inhalers can be brought in by students. If there are any medical concerns or you have questions, please contact me.
Looking forward to seeing you in a few days until then stay safe.

Meet Kim Simmons
My name is Kim Simmons and I am thrilled to be the new third grade teacher at Flynn Elementary! I am so happy to be a part of the Flynntastic community and am excited to spend this school year getting to meet our great students and families.
I grew up in Utica, New York, and I have also lived in Poughkeepsie, NY. I moved to Vermont in 1993. I am married and have two children, Keri, who lives in Stamford, CT and is a product development specialist in the fashion industry, and Andy, who lives in Salem, NH and is an Operations Support Specialist in Industrial Control for Enel Green Power. I also have 2 step children who live in the Southern Tier of NY and each have 2 children.
I have worked at Shelburne Community School, Wolcott Elementary, and most recently at Addison Central School.
When I am not teaching, I like to take walks with my husband and my dog, Mugsy, read, and I am teaching myself how to knit.
Meet Maggie DiMasi
Dear Parents,
Welcome to a new school year!
My name is Maggie DiMasi and I am a Physical Education (P.E.) teacher at J.J. Flynn Elementary School. I grew up in Burlington Vermont and attended Flynn School myself! I’m extremely excited to be back! As a Physical Education teacher, I strive to have each class be as active as possible, while teaching the life long skills of effort, attitude and teamwork.
I love being active and playing all kinds of sports. I attended Northeastern University (Go Huskies!) where I played ice hockey followed by playing professional hockey for three years! I later attended St. Michael’s College, receiving my Masters in Education and found my true passion through education and coaching. I’m extremely excited to be a part of the Flynn community and look forward to seeing you all!
Here is some important information about P.E. class. Your child needs to wear sneakers in class, students can’t participate if they don’t have proper footwear. Appropriate clothing is required. As long as the weather allows, we will have our P.E. classes outdoors.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
Ms. DiMasi
