👨🎓 SENIOR INFORMATION 👩🎓
Job Shadow (4/12/23)
Students will not have classes at SJHS on this date.
Instead, students should seek out an opportunity to observe a workplace of interest.
The job shadow experience must last a minimum of two hours.
Seniors are responsible for securing their own sites.
Although we are providing the time on this day, we understand that availability of job sites and schedules may force this to be done another day.
A brief reflection form and signed acknowledgement from an employer must be submitted before 4/30/23. These are required tasks in Seminar. Additional direction will be provided by Seminar teachers.
Students who attend a RESA program will not be scheduled for this event as they have course obligations on that date. They should follow the directions of their instructor(s).

Safety Protocols
In the wake of recent events, we thought it might be helpful to review some terms used in our safety protocols with families.
MERT (Medical Emergency Response Team) Alert
- Use for an Emergency Medical Situation
- Students in the area of the emergency are relocated.
- All other students clear the hallways or remain in classrooms.
- Trained personnel respond to the situation and address it appropriately.
Lockdown
- Used when a threat or potential threat is high (or in a drill).
- Classrooms are secured.
- Instruction stops.
- Lights are turned off.
- Blinds and curtains are closed.
- Students hide in silence out of view of the doors/windows.
Shelter-In-Place*
- Used when the potential for disruption is possible.
- Regular classroom activities continue.
- Classrooms are secured.
- Students remain in the classroom.
* Please note that other institutions, most notably MSU, use this term differently. Shelter-In-Place in our procedures, merely means, stay in secured classrooms, but continue business as usual.
