Sign Up for Parent Teacher Conferences
*Please sign up for one 20-minute conference per child.
*Make sure and sign up with the proper teacher.
*You will have a choice of an in-person conference (with masking) or a virtual conference.
*If you are out of town, please make every effort to pick a virtual conference time that you can work for your family.
*Our goal is to meet with 100% of our families during our two days for conferences. Thank you in advance for helping us reach our goal!
Follow these links to sign up for a conference for each child based on grade level.
Specialists (Spanish, P.E., Art, Music, & Talent Development)
You are NOT required to meet with any specialist teachers, however they are happy to meet with you and support your child's learning in their area of expertise.
Due to Covid mitigation procedures, we will not be serving popcorn at conferences this fall.
Attendance Reminders
School starts at 8:58. Please make every effort to have your students here on time. Students who get here late, even if just by a few minutes, miss important social and instructional time, not to mention time to eat their breakfast.
If your student has an appointment or other reason for lateness, call the Attendance line at 952-988-4910 at any time and leave a message. If you don't report their absence, you'll get the call in the late morning that they're out and unexcused.
Attendance letters for unexcused absences and tardies will go out in October. You'll receive one if your child has three or more unexcused absences. If you have questions about your child's attendance, you can access their record through Parent Portal or call the office at 952-988-4900.
Thank you for maximizing your child's time for learning!
Pick Up and Drop Off Parking Reminders
It has also come to my attention that some folks are pulling into the handicap spots to wait for their child to exit the building. WE MUST LEAVE THE HANDICAP SPOTS OPEN FOR GUESTS WHO HAVE A HANDICAP STICKER HANGING IN THEIR VEHICLE OR HANDICAP PLATES.
Thank you so much for your attention to these matters.
FastBridge Assessments
We will be testing students in reading and math using the FastBridge assessments. Students in Grades 2-6 will test throughout October, and Kindergarten and Grade 1 students will test in the first half of November.
FastBridge assessments help us determine your student’s performance and growth in the areas of math and literacy. They are one of many ways we measure student progress. We use all test results carefully, especially given the changes in instruction since the pandemic began.
A good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast help your students to be prepared for these assessments.
If you have any questions, please email marna.gisvold@hopkinsschools.org or call the office at 952-988-4900. Thanks for all that you do to partner with us in your child’s education.

Spooky Book Fair
Spooky Book Fair is coming! The book fair will run after school Wednesday (10/13), Thursday (10/14) & Friday (10/15). The book fair will also be open during conferences (10/18-10/19) and will follow the conference schedule. All the proceeds from our book fair come back to the school in the form of "scholastic dollars", which we use to purchase books for classrooms and for students directly. In recent years, our school has been successful at putting approximately 5400 books into kids' hands!
Square One Art forms were sent home in backpacks last week. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child's artwork to be turned into gifts for your friends and family. Artwork is due back at school by October 14th or can be uploaded online. See previous weekly updates from Jim for more details.

Renaming of the Lindbergh Center
In June 2021, The Hopkins School Board unanimously approved a resolution that directs the Hopkins School District administration to convene a committee for the purpose of recommending a new name for the building currently known as the Lindbergh Center. If you would like to help us in our efforts to choose a name, please take a moment to learn about the project and provide feedback. Click here.
Hopkins Online Royal Academy
The Open Enrollment period for the Online Royal Academy (ORA) has closed. Families wishing to pursue an in district transfer to the ORA may still do so using the in-district transfer request process. That process can be found here. Please follow the drop-down directions titled: We live in the District but want our child to attend a school other than their assigned school (In-District Transfer). ORA will accept and process transfers as space permits. For help with the In-District transfer process, please contact Deb Pauly at Deborah.Pauly@hopkinsschools.org.

COVID-19 Updates
Please remember to have your child complete a daily health screening before attending school. You can find updates and information related to our school’s safety plan on our COVID Hub.
Vaccination Information
COVID-19 Dashboard is now live
Hopkins Public Schools COVID-19 Dashboard is now live. The 2021-22 dashboard shares the level of transmission rate of the virus in our community and also the number of positive cases and quarantines among staff and students. The dashboard will be updated Fridays at 12 p.m.
Free At-Home COVID-19 Testing for Hopkins Scholars
While supplies last, Hopkins Schools will offer weekly COVID-19 testing for all scholars, beginning Monday, Sept. 13. Upon request, we will provide Vault, saliva test kits on Mondays for scholars (regardless of vaccination status) to pick up from the school main office, to take home and complete. The saliva samples need to be returned to the school nurse by noon on Tuesday for mailing. Vault’s COVID-19 at home testing instructions can be found here. Vault will email results to the participant within 48 to 72 hours. In addition, all families may order free home testing kits from this MDH program at any time. If you'd like to test more frequently or suspect you’ve been exposed, we recommend having these test kits on hand.
Planning Ahead
Continue to have conversations as caregivers about how you will handle a situation where you are called to come to school to pick up your child in the case of Covid symptoms or exposure. If your child needs to quarantine from school for a few days, what plans do you have in place? Conversations about these potentials now may save you some headaches in the future.
